Surviving Mars: Green Planet or Surviving the Aftermath?
I have a 1000 Yen coupon for Epic Games Store which I have to use by May 1, 2010. That means today. Two games are on my wish list:

1. Surviving the Aftermath
2. Surviving Mars: Green Planet (This is DLC. I have the base game which I got for free).

Both are 2050 yen. I just wonder which I should get. With the coupon that becomes 1050 Yen.

(I already have Frostpunk which is kind of like Surviving the Aftermath. And I have Aven Colony which is a bit like Surviving Mars)

I'd much rather get Green Planet, especially if you enjoyed the base game of SM, than Surviving the Aftermath, which is still in early access, locked to Epic, and frankly, still has Paradox's hands all over it. Every single one of those is an extreme negative for me.

Green Planet adds quite a bit to SM.

Thanks. What is bad about Paradox?

Right about now I felt a disturbance in the force. Either that or it was simultaneous vibrations of thousands of keyboards typing out angry posts with thousands of keyboards typing out counter posts.

rofl SkiRich This forum gets some traffic, but not that much traffic. You want to see me stir up some ♥♥♥♥ come visit the Imperator forums sometime. :)

Let's just saying I don't like what IMO is Paradox's trend of releasing increasingly less and less finished games and expecting to finish them with more and more paid DLC, as well as becoming increasing tone-deaf towards their community. To be fair, they are only the publisher - not the developer - of StA but that is enough for me to be convinced not to buy it until I can evaluate a finished product.

Its a never ending saga for sure.
As for Imperator, oh I dont even need to visit those forums to know. Enough comments about Imperator bleed into other forums I can pretty much guess what that one looks like.

I can totally understand hating on paradox and their weird business model. I'm noob and as such only bought 1 para game ever: Surviving mars green planet.

It is just ♥♥♥♥♥♥.ed to release a new game and after 2-3 years, if you wanna buy into the full experience u have to pay like 200 bucks just to get all content DLCs. That is very bad behaviour lol. -> this is the reason why i won't buy Stellaris and vote with my wallet to not support shady MTX skinner box behaviour.

I'm quite satisfied with my discounted sale purchase for surviving mars( it had decent DLC content and pricing), i really love the OST. But likewise i might not buy any game from paradox in future. But that all depends more on the pricing of DLC / OST and service from the platform.

I'm quite lucky to be more "casual" and not bound by emotions to random publishers lol.

My stance is as long as there are young talents there will be cool new projects from developers and as time passes publishers come and go. Publishers can go bankrupt and idc.

In the face of time games and their developers will be remembered and publishers very fast forgotten as copycats.

The developers and artists are what matters in the end and if their project is fun.
And if you are a talented developer you will always find a new publisher or project to kickstart from.

TL;DR:
Just ignore publishers and think out of the box: Don't buy 100% games only from 1 store / publisher, if you spread out genre / game types you are golden and not dependant on only 1 publisher to get a good game out. For example i never bought an ubisoft game even though it is a very big publisher. And i didn't buy from them cause "hate", but just because i don't have so much time to play and their games are simply not interesting.
Likewise with EA. I don't see a point in buying any EA games. Even though it is a big publisher.

New generation of devs make much cooler projects anyway :D

I ended up getting After The Aftermath after I discovered my $10 coupon would not work wit Surviving Mars - Green Planet...I guess because either it is DLC, or because the base game was once free on EPIC store and that is how I got is
