What is the story behind the Radio Stations and Music?
Has anything been published explaining the sources and story behind the radio stations and music content of the game?

I'd like to know how it was put together and who was involved as I think its absolutely excellent. My personal favourites are 'Quantum Sonics' and 'The Free Earth Channel' but they are all excellent and I'd like to know more of the backstory behind the idea.

Also are we likely to get anymore stations/songs and will there ever be a video release of some of the music.

Publisher and devs contract cheap musicians to compose a score, voice actors to read a script and somebody authors the blurb.
Not much story to it than that.
More radio stations at a price will very likely be forthcoming, in both this game and Cities: Skylines. As for a video release, not likely, but who knows? Why don't you ask Paradox yourself?

Thanks for that it was very interesting. Though I was more interested in the radio stations and the songs they play.

A musical radio station is easy to set up when there are no frequency allocation authorities to kick your door in. And with even modern tools, a one-man musical machine is entirely possible.

After all, what do you think those botanists actually do on those 6-hour shifts? Besides using the moonshine still?

Interesting I was wondering where that revolutionary theme came from.

Does anyone know who the singers/DJ's were?

Oh, come on. No respect for actual Martian revolutionaries!?

Rather nice live performance of 'Momma' by Rainbow train. i think Miss Palmgren must sing quite a few of the songs as her voice is quite distinctive.

Yep! Twelve tracks in total.

Do you mean in universe or real life? In real life someone at the top pretty much describes the story. In universe I imagine they are independent radio stations run by colonists after they made the trek to Mars it's highly unlikely they are beaming signals from Earth simply for radio purposes they are in all likelihood stationed on Mars. What I don't understand is why are colonists using radio stations when they can simply setup a internet site that plays radio like EVE Radio and the Touhou one. Lmao.

They will still need daily weather updates, and people love the 'dedication.'
"The duststorm is expected to continue for the next Sol and a half. Windspeeds are expected to average ___, with dust density of __ and grit factor __, so check and double-check your seals, people.
And for the crew building solar-farm3, this is from Jenna Threepio."

Idunno... I think the in-game radio stuff is great, I wish there were more of it.
In the Workshop area of the Steam client are some additional in-game stations. They vary in quality, but some are quite nice, with station i.d. bumps etc.
I like the fact that some of the DLC includes an additional station, just wish there were more content in them, considering the ridiculous number of hours I've been dumping into this game.

Well the obvious answer is just to play the Youtube version in the background on repeat. I listened to the Rainbow Train one yesterday as I was making some posting and its nice to hear the incluttered song content. But I do like the radio DJ's too, especially 'Joy Granigan'. I'm actually curious if any of the Paradox staff were used as Joy reminds me a bit of Nicky.

Oh! is that a mod?

I went to listen to it and it took me to the workshop file. I did wonder if anyone would start releasing extra radio stations to add to the content. Seems an obvious creative outlet.
