Dome connections
New player here.

I understand colonists can work in connected domes and use their services. What is not clear to me is what kind of limitations, if any, are on this. Is there a max distance, a max dome count to go through, etc?

Example of a concrete scenario that I don't know if it works: Dome A connect to dome B. Dome B connect to dome C. No direct connection between A and C. Can A residents use C services? Is there a penalty?

In regards to the max dome count, it's 1 dome. So, no A can't use C, but B could use A or B.

For the distance, I'm not sure. I haven't tried connecting them very far away myself.

There is a limit to how long the passages can be, but otherwise passage length appears to have no impact.

Colonists working in another dome receive a -10 penalty to performance, and when a colonist goes to a service in another dome there is a penalty to how much comfort/sanity/health they receive, I believe it's -5.

Even though colonists can only work/receive services in immediately connected domes, they can freely migrate across multiple connected domes.

Technically not true, I don't think. Your Sims only have 8 game hours to fulfill their various needs so they don't lose comfort, and the longer it takes to walk to their various destinations, the less needs they will be able to fulfill.

My observation of colonists is they only try to do two or three things each day (get food, try to fulfill a random interest, seek medical care) and have plenty of time with which to do so. The amount of benefit a colonist gets from a building is independent of how long they have to spend in it (except they sometimes visit twice in a row). Also colonists don't seem to be obligated to go to work, they often do but sometimes you can find them wandering off doing other things (or sleeping at home) during their work shift, it doesn't appear to reduce the productivity of the building.

Thanks for the info!

Somewhat related question: the Loner trait is just about a single dome right? Or does it count all people living in (directly?) connected domes? My impression is that it is just the one dome but having a confirmation would be nice.

Right from the source code ... Loses Comfort every day while living in a Dome with population over 30.
