The Door To Summer
I've just had this come up on screen as a message.
Has anyone had this as a choice/option and if so is it worth doing.
I've just got my colony up to about 200 and am starting to build supplies up and I don't want to be "bled dry" if at all possible.

I don't think this an in-game story arc, as it doesn't stay on screen when I'm playing the game, so I assume it's a cash for goods trade option?
Are they asking me to resupply and I'll get paid everytime or what?

The Door To Summer

"Do you want to live forever? Apparently, the clients of Eternal Summer, a large cryonics company, intend to do so.
Fearing that the Earth could be destroyed by a cataclysm, the ten richest customers of Eternal Summer have paid for a rocket to host their cryopods. It has launched towards Mars, where they are relying on your colony to resupply the cosmic ark.

Effect: The Eternal Cosmic rocket will regularly ask for permission to land. If you resupply it you will receive $150 M on its launch.

1: Space is a harsh place, and we wouldn'y leave anyone alone.
(Accept)
2:It doesn't sound appealing, sorry.
(Refuse)
3: [Oligarch] It will cost them extra.
(Accept, and get triple reward)
4:We won't ask for compensation. We will do it for free.
(Accept and get no reward)

I've got a saved game point just prior to this coming up on screen, and I assume that I'll be able to reload the game and rethink my options if I choose.

They will bleed you dry, esp. if a young/ill-resourced colony, though you can keep them waiting as long as you want (their passengers are already dead, after all..).

depending on what they need for resupply i would give it a go...

150m doesnt sounds this bad... adds funding and you can keep all your rare metals for your self.

I have never had a rocket come back more than once in any game this has come up. Not sure if thats a flaw or not but the message sounds like I should see the rocket every so often. I didnt.

When i did it they wanted a pile of electronics, the $150mil doesn't nearly cover the cost of resupply unless maybe you're mass producing electronics and even then I would gues it's a lossy venture. I'd think the actual benefit comes from some later event.

I haven't actually completed it yet though, the time I accepted I just parked their rocket out in the middle of nowhere and ignored it for the next 100 sols, it did no harm. But I didn't continue that game so I don't know what happens when you continue on with the event chain.

Just refuse and move on.

Let them land and eat them.

Oh, man, I wish I could eat them. 20 electronics and 25 machine parts? For $150M? I'm being ripped off. Buncha damn socialists wrote this game…

Read it again callion:

You are not being ripped off by socialists but by the 1%. Just like you were on earth. Some things never change :D

Tell them go fly kite. Never support them.

Has anyone completed it then? What if this is a future year and an unsuccessful (re: colonizing Mars) Elon Musk is on the ship or something? I already wanted to know what happens--how I really want to know.

Right. Socialists wrote the game, so of course the 1% will rip you off instead of giving you a fair deal. Because of course they got rich by cheating their business partners…right…

Rip off is subjective. It doesnt matter if by socialists, or 1% (not my choice of words to describe people).
If you are swimming in electronics and machine parts, then you obviously dont care about the money either, and so its just another cool game mechanic.

As for young or early colonies, you could in effect setup tradepads and get these items from other colonies, then have these guys come and give $150M on a regular basis. Its called trade mercantilism.

I have not seen political ideologies forced on users in this game at all, so try and keep that out of discussions. (You know if there were any I would mod them right out for you.)

Well, except for the fact that all the radio stations except the instrumental one spout socialist ideology.

And sure, you could be swimming in electonics and machine parts, but as you said, if that's the case, you don't need the money. This is anything but a fair trade, made more obvious by the fact that you don't know the terms until you've accepted, and can't get out of it later. It's a socialist's vision of what free trade looks like.

Like I said I could mod that out but it doesn’t really feel like that and every time this event surfaced for me it was no big deal to accept. I don’t even recall anyone on the forums saying they were bled dry of resources.
One way to control it is via location location location.
Pick a spot to allow them to land away from your main stockpiles and drones. Maybe even have a hub next to the site and keep the drones disassembled. Then when they show up that’s when you let the drones loose but until drones can service the rocket it will just stay there waiting without negative affects.

Now the radio stations? I don’t know. I have turned on the stations after the first three months of playing. As cool as some of the music is, it gets old when you play as much as I did. So I just made my own stations locally with my music.

If they want 20 Electronics and 25 Machine Parts EACH time, then not even triple pay (450M) would be enough, x5 (750M) and I might agree, but 150M? F OFF.
