Do metals respawn?
Hey

I've been playing the game for over a week now and have a relativly large colony. Just wondered do metals respawn on the surface?

Also once undergorund metals or rare metals resource has be used up completly do they respawn after a certain amount of sols? If at all.

Any further tips to play will help

Thanks :)

ah ok, see im sure the metals respawn on the surface as I collected them then built a a mega dome in that same area and while I was placing life support more just seemed to have appeared.

Strange.

Occasionally metals and polymers can be left after meteor impacts.

Metals and polymers on the surface of the planet do not respawn. However, as johntarmac mentioned additional metals and polymers can be deposited by meteorite impacts.

Normally the subsurface resources also do not respawn, but you can download the following mod and it will reset the subsurface deposits back to their original value once they have been depleted.

I did wonder too about what would happen if a resource was exhausted so I set myself a task of using up all water resources on the map, including all the deep ones and then running my colony on a self maintaining vapouriser farm.

I was on the very last "well" that would have run out in a few sols when a message popped up, can't remember what is said exactly but due to something or other further water resources had been discovered... There were no more breakthroughs, all techs had been researched at that pomit. Now was that coincidence or a built in fail safe. I was disappointed as my farm was going to look good....

Haven't tried it for any of the other resources though.

Because end-game tech is not available early- and mid-game?

I noticed that is also true with anomolies. After you have researched every anomoly on the map, an occassional anomoly will continue to pop up. Which appears to be placed randomly on the map. It may have something to do with the Mystery storyline that was chosen, I can't be certain.

Metors can randomly spawn anomolies.

This is the only way after all tech has been researched for you to get an anomaly on the planet.
You are probably zoomed into the colony and dont see the meteor impact. But you should get a voice that says Anomaly Detected.
The Anomaly is always free research points from this point forward.
