(Necroed) Getting enough colonists is really hard...

For the past sols in my colony one of my BIGGEST problems has been lack of colonists... I have enough housing and food but I suffer getting enough applicants on earth and they dont reproduce enough. Because of this my conony suffer issues being self sustaining. I have tonnes of food for new colonists and tonnes of jobs... I have a serious problem getting enough workers for factories and mines. Because of this Im unable to be self sustained and I need to waste science to get enough funds to replenish my colony. Its insanely annoying! Is there a mod where I can just cheat allot of applicants? There is like 1 or 2 applicants every 10 - 40 sol. And this lack of workers are cascading lowering comfort. Production to increase comfort and all sorts of other things. There are more colonists departing that colonists arriving at the moment...

You are definitely doing something wrong, as most of the times overpopulation is a problem...
Do you build medical buildings and comfort-related buildings in you domes?
Also, you may try church of the new ark as sponsor, they reproduce like bunnies. And there is also doctor commander profile which helps with it too...

Probably means you don't have enough comfort for the colonists to reproduce. You need luxery/relaxation buildings to build up the comfort so that they have children, also infirmary reduces the required comfort for children. Overpopulation does tend to be the bigger issue..

Man's reach exceeding his grasp. Once you understand this, truly understand this game becomes really easy or at least simple.

Literally before building anything ask yourself "Do I need this right now?" "What's The maintance cost?" "How am I going to pay the maintance in 10 Sols?" "Do I have the population to staff the new buiding?"

Priority #1, 2 and 3 are colonists comfort ie people. It's tempting for instance to just build a polymer factory, import a machine part factory and an electornics factory and once you fill all the shifts on all the factories you suddenly have on lets say Sol 21: 15 pops of which 3 are children, 30 open workslots, 5 people in rando factories gaining 0.5 rando advanced resources per sol, and understaffing of key services causing massive disatisfaction, 52% comfort and 20 sols later your wondering what the hell went wrong and why the game is so difficult.

Recruiting everyone from Earth is part of your problem. If you are scraping the bottom of the barrel and bringing people with bad traits you are making it even harder to meet the comfort needs if you do not have mutliple domes to sort them out.

Now since you probably have a bunch of gambling addicts and drunks in your population you need to make sure they are in a dome with the ability to fill those needs. This means using dome filters to move them around.

Comfort landmarks also help greatly since they are +10 to comfort to people living in the dome.

Your infirmary also needs to be manned on all three shifts.

Priorities early game:

1. Meet dome resource consumption needs. Notably, water.
2. FOOD. This one is easy to forget, run low on and then get burned by.
3. Rare Metals mine. This is step one towards self sufficiency. You put rare metals in a rocket. Send it to earth. Get paid.
4. Metals mine. You need a constant reliable source of this before you make a machine parts factory. This is because there are a tremendous number of buildings that consume metals for upkeep.

Once those 4 things are established you gradually grow. Make more domes. Establish water, air and power for them. Fill them with people. The growing population from this you can put towards producing different advanced resources locally. I recommend Polymers first.
