Stuck in "Power of Three" Mystery [SPOILER]
Hi all,

I hope someone can guide me. I read all the previous posts about this made in Steam and outside but no solution made me progress through the mystery.

This is the last log I have: Sol 138: S.H.E.P.I.D research completed. Buildings within range of our Sensor Towers will be protected from the cubes.

The thing is, I placed many Sensor Towers around my entire colony and buildings and made sure their range cover every bit of things I have built. Still, cubes do appear in those areas and sometimes destroy buildings inside/outside the domes.

Right now it's Sol 190 and those damn cubes are♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥me off and i can't build more domes because they spawned in areas where I was planning to build.

Thanks in advance

Ah, then it sounds like you're doing the right thing already. I don't know if there's a critical number of cubes you need to collect/destroy/build monuments out of. I didn't collect every cube on the map, but I did send rovers out to gather most of them in stockpiles, and I built a few monuments, but didn't destroy any cubes. (Except in a quick replay to see what would happen.)

It sometimes took a long time -- on the order of decades -- for the next event to trigger, but eventually they started moving faster. From the text popups I got at the end, it seems like the game registers how you deal with the majority of the cubes; my epilogue assumed I studied the cubes cautiously but didn't build monuments, even though I did build a few.

From your frustration with the cubes appearing in sites where you want to build, it sounds like you might not be using the cube storage depots?

I'm pretty sure some stages of the mystery depend on you having stored (or destroyed, or built monuments out of) a certain number of cubes. In fact, the event popups strongly suggest that it's an important choice WHICH of those three methods you choose for dealing with the cubes.

This is normal for the early stage. They appear in your colony and you need to gather them into black cube depots.
The SHEPID is to protect your colony building from the following: Warning Spoiler: Once you gather every cube you will be asked to destroy them. You can do that now anyway. Send Drones to salvage them. After a bit of time the cubes come fast and furious and you need to keep up with gathering them and destroying them. they eventually out produce your effort.. The SHEPID forms a zone around important things. The Cubes will gather all of them together and form a building that explodes with energy and completes the story. The SHEPID protects your colony from being destroyed.

Not wanting to give too many spoilers...but with all respect to SkiRich, destroying the cubes is one of three methods to complete the quest, and does not give the best outcome. The popup windows during the quest should make it fairly clear what your other two options are.

True. There are two other paths. All lead to the same reason for the SHEPID.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I should have mentioned that I have collected all the black cubes around/in my colony but I did not do that to the cubes that are a bit futher over the open area where I was planning to expnd. I have about 15-20 full black box depots and 1 large decoration. Are you saying I should collect all of them or build a lot of decorations or destroy them?

Thanks

Thanks man. I guess I'll have to go and collect/build more black cubes. Hope none of them destroy my artificial sun

UPDATE: It worked! I was able to complete the Mystery. Thanks everyone!

So, I had a similar issue until I figured out that the cubes need, specifically, a Concrete Extractor to destroy. In my game, I did not have a concrete extractor running (was sitting on a stockpile of 4k concrete) and it wasn't until a couple decades later that I built one to clean up a deposit before putting down a dome. A cube instantly destroyed it (literally as soon as construction completed) and the mystery progressed normally.

I'm currently stuck with this one. I followed all the advice in here to no avail. I had collected well over 50 cube depot stockpiles all over the map. I waited 100 sols before I tried building monuments out of the all the stockpiles I had. Now I have like 30 something large monuments and a bunch of small ones. It's still stuck on:

"Sol 163: S.H.E.P.I.D. Research completed. Buildings within range of our Sensor Towers will be protected from the cubes"

it's now Sol 297 and no new info. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you build the sensor towers to protect all your buildings?
