If you choose to give up living space for more comfort then you permanently lose the living space and gain comfort for housing.
If you tell them to suck it up you receive a one time penalty of -20 comfort.
It aint mentioned except during the event. Even then it just says "homes provide less homes" or something.
While the comfort bonus is nice, the loss of living space sucks when you aint prepared for it.
Yep, and exactly why I took the "suck it up buttercup" option with the comfort penalty. I pinned a colonist after the event and the -20 comfort was a one time thing.
