Storage & depots
on my first playthrough and trying to figure out how the Ai likes to distribute resources among depots.

Does it go something like this?

- Depots with a desired amount set higher than others will have higher priority. It seems like that may be the case at least compared to depots set to 0. Shuttles may still transfer resources from the depot with set amount to another one if a building etc. nearby is demanding/accepting resources that aren't currently available in depots within range.

So if I want to make sure that these depots stay in stock if available, I should set a desire amount, and things like large storages should be used for backup or overflow so best to set to 0?

I just unlocked shuttles not too long ago which made me really want to grasp it. Is the Ai with those any different than drones when it comes to transferrings resources? - Other than the whole long distance thing.

I find it funny how drones would rather carry concrete all the way over to the universal depot instead of the specific concrete depot I set up right next to the extractor.

Shuttles treat Depot stocking the same way as Drones. Seems like you have a fairly good grasp on the concept. Overflow Depots set to 0 and the smaller depots around your infrastructure set to some reasonable value so the drones always have resources the infrastructure consumes.

I think Universal Depots have priority over specific depots. I don't use them much so don't quote me on that.

Thanks. Yeah, the universal ones seem iffy to me and it kind of it made it confusing as the base grows. So I’m starting to only use them temporarily and destroy shortly after.

Once you get automated mining and no longer need geologists you can use the Universal Depots to keep supplies for remote mining operations but they are not needed for anything else.

How can I transfer automatically ressources from a storage to another? It is my biggest problem with this game. I always have to manually send my RC Transport...

Yeah, this is kind of why I wanted to get a good grip on depot priorities. For long range my guess is shuttles & RC with combination of tunnels.

For drones:
Should I be placing drone hubs in such a way their range overlaps each other, then placing depots on the tiles they share so they can transport a good distance automatically? Is there a better method? I've recently placed a tunnel for the first time, is there any way for drones to take advantage of it? -other than manually re-assigning to other drone hubs
