Drones REFUSE to repair buildings!
This is driving me nuts. A building breaks down, because of a marsquake or just decay. It's broken now. It's not working. Materials needed for repair... piled high in the nearby depot. Check the nearby Drone Hub... EVERY LAST MOTHER♥♥♥♥ING DRONE is just sitting around, idling. Doing NOTHING. They're not busy with anything else, there aren't any higher priorities, they're just COMPLETELY INACTIVE. Set the broken building to High Priority... nothing happens. MANUALLY select a drone, right-click on the broken building... the Drone's destination switched to 'going to pick up materials' for a quarter of a second, then returns to idling. Angrily right-click on the broken building twenty times in a row... same result. MANUALLY order a drone to pick up repair-materials, then right-click on the broken building when it says 'Deliver'... still nothing.

Quit the game. Popup appears. "Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you."

Do they, though? DO THEY?

EVENTUALLY, often after SEVERAL SOLS, the drones DO tend to get around to repairing the broken buildings, but that incredibly long and utterly pointless delay is MADDENING. Just what the heck is going on here? Are the drones on strike, demanding better working-conditions or higher pay or something? >_>

Black Dragon, I completely agree. I'm ready to quit this infuriatingly poorly designed game! twice, I've begun losing colonists because my major water supply has shut down from needing maintenance, plus 8-11 other building need machine parts to be repaired. In tonight's game, I had 52 idle drones with the drone Commander beside the water mine, (I've forgotten what it's called). I had 21 machine parts, the missing item it stated all the places needed. I was manufacturing more machine parts. I had two 2 drone hubs and I had my three ships spaced around my colony to help prevent orphaned drones. Nothing will make the idle drones circling the water mine work! Meanwhile, I have two years of failed crops and dying colonists. Oh, I almost forgot, while I have no water for farming, I have 1000 water in storage. This game is extremely poorly designed.

I've never had any of those problems. You must be doing something wrong. Have you tried letting a baboon run your colony? They might do a better job.

Never has anyone had a more appropriate name...

Mind maxing the radius out again, and seeing if this helps?

Whoever invented this Mod, give him the Nobel-Prize ! Just installed it and now the drones repair everything !! No Distance of Hubs need to changed anymore.

If there was actually a problem with drones not repairing a building after thousands of Sols all my buildings would have been in disrepair but they are not. How does one explain that?
Kinda amazing what turns up when people necro stuff...

Yep. Yet somehow I got the blame for that sort of attitude in another topic when that same person came back two years later throwing insults.

For anyone curious... I finally figured out what was going on. Turns out, a different drone-hub had the broken Mall inside its reach JUST BARELY - literally, the uppermost hex of the mall was right on the edge of the maximum reach of that hub. So of COURSE, the game decides to let THAT hub handle the repairs...

The reason I couldn't get the drones parked RIGHT NEXT to it to do jack simply was that, as far as the game was concerned, the task was already being taken care of! Just... by drones that had to drive several miles back and forth between depots and the building, while also awaiting material-drops from my shuttles in order to do so in the first place. I've said it before and I'll probably have to say it again: The drones in this game aren't so much 'badly optimized' as 'highly optimized towards MINIMUM EFFICIENCY'!

...but yeah, now that I know what happened, it's easy enough to prevent. Just a matter of reducing that other hub's reach. I wonder if some of the other cases I've noticed have been something similar...
This is the only answer I’ve found anywhere online that is even remotely close. I’ll try this thank you

1. The general policy is to refrain from necroposting.
2. And the general policy to such stuck buildings is to disable them, then order a drone to repair it. If it works, then the repair task was simply drowned in a queue somewhere. If it doesn't, then it's a bug. After confirming this, you can proceed to optimize the drone coverage.

Unfortunately, all drone AI improvement mods were abandoned long ago, and fell victim to the game updates.
