Noob question
Are you unable to salvage or delete domes? If not, why not?
After researching Megadomes, I wanted to redo my main colony with a Megadome or two, and get rid of the 4 domes I already had in place. But, I saw no option for getting rid of the old domes. That sucked.
One thing I learned, that really sucks, and is the reason I wanted to go with 2 mega domes is, it seems if the colonists have to go more than one dome over, you have to provide another diner and other services, or they will starve or go insane. Also, if the outside production factory, like the miner, is 2 domes away from the residential dome, no workers will go to it.

To tell the truth, after finding that I'm unable to salvage a dome, this makes me want to just ditch the game and forget about buying any of the DLCs due to the inability to upgrade my colony. I may even ask for a refund.

Remove all buildings inside first, then delete it. Yes its dumb but d a full dome will crash Surviving Mars.exe

Yes. I did remove everything inside first. Then I quarantined it and powered it off, removed the passage, still can't salvage or delete. It is completely empty, abandoned, and cut off.

As long as the dome is empty of both buildings and people - the demolish button should light up in the top right as it does for all buildings.
If it's not doing that then I can only assume that it's either not completely empty of buildings - there are people still inside - or you have a mod screwing something up.

Since I'm new to the game, I haven't added any mods. As far as I know, it shows 0 people assigned to the dome, and when I zoom in, I only see a couple of animals. I clicked one, and it said it was a pet of a colonist. I think it's stupid that they didn't take it when I had them move to the magadome. Meh, guess I'll just start a new game.

The animals inside will likely be the reason.

You know you can just build somewhere else and ignore the old domes - right?

Yeah, I know, but this is the best spot on the map. :)

Yeah, you gotta wait for animals to die off first, as well as removing any outside buildings connected to it.

Well, crap.... I have a miner that is connected to it and another dome. What a waste...

Well, thanks.

The miner will only be connected to one dome, whichever was there first (there might be code to migrate it over, not sure).

Yeah, both domes showed it connected to them. I guess I built it after they were both there.

But, anywho, I deleted the mine, and after the last animal past away, sure enough, I could salvage the dome. Thanks a lot for the help folks. I'm gonna purchase all of the DLCs now. :steamhappy:
