There is a way to fix the distortion caused by the scaling.
For NVIDIA Graphics cards go in NVIDIA Control Panel> Display > Select a scaling mode: Aspect Ratio + Perform scaling on>GPU
There should be a similar option for ATI graphics cards as well.
Main Settings
- No Banner
- Run in Window
- Hide Desktop Background
- Keep Aspect Ratio
- Set to Desktop
- Window Initial Position & Size set to 1932.62 x 1443.84 (you'll need to figure out the exact size depending on your monitor resolution, but I went with a 1.88 multiplier to arrive at my values).
Video Settings
- Default Window Style
- Emulate Win Maximize
- Hide Taskbar
- Widow Size & Position Anchored
That should do it. It's a bit of work, but makes the game look really good on any modern monitor.
