Humans are kind of the meh-baseline race. They tend to pair nicely with Orthin or Phidi but don't help most of the other races out with anything.
Yoral are strong generalists, better at almsost everything than most unless it's another species' specailty. But they are particularly good at ice. Yoral + Orthin on Glacier can actually get pretty big pop-wise.
Orthin are uniquely good at vents (glacier has vents) but more restricted than most. To have the highest pop on the nicer worlds you need Orthin. I think they are better than most at some of the other water biomes as well.
Gremak are slightly better than baseline at water IIRC, but weak at hot/dry I think. They've changed a lot since early access.
Phidi are amazing at most biomes found in water other than vents, but terrible at dry.
The dinos are like humans but quite good at dry/hot.
Everybody likes garden/Gaia because it has such a wide variety of biomes.
I was thinking maybe they should make the two dinosaurs a bit more different. Like one prefer ice the other prefer dry.
Also why there are no marshes? Gremaks likes them. Or at least let them terraform planets into marshes.
There is a similar issue with arid worlds -- water is life. However, Spice Mongers do prefer arid words, and we do have a new playable faction in the coming DLC (the Tinkers) that prefer arid worlds, since water is harmful to their machinery.
We'll add swamp planets as soon as I get around to making a graphic for them.
But they have Star trek technology!
