Dragon Warrior Monsters spiritual sequel?

I saw this and the first thing I immediately thought was "This is gonna involve a lot of keys and plugs". Is this something you would consider to be a deeper, wider sequel to the GBC Dragon Warrior/Quest Monster games? Before the horror that was the Joker games, of course.

Yes, the game was heavily inspired by that series. It has a lot deeper mechanics and will last you a lot longer than those games though.

Outstanding. I actually met my best bro of 20+ years by watching him play that, then getting a copy and having us play together. I don't know why that type of game hasn't gotten more love.
