Why did Jerry screw Michael about the house?
Is there some lore about why Jerry did this? What happened to Jerry? Or did Michael simply not talk to him anymore?

Jerry is just a scammer. A typical scam to get money. Nothing out of the ordinary.
What happened to Jerry you can know from the beginning of The Last Visit DLC. He was sentenced to 8 years in jail. But he was released after 4 years. Michael never spoke to him again.

To be strict, I don't consider Jerry a blatant scammer, just a very disorganized fellow who didn't check the legal situation of Blackwood Manor with the National Trust, which led to Michael being in trouble. Hence their falling off.
