I 1cc'd the original, this is a ripoff
The title says it all, but this was a big game in my school when I was a teenager, and I 1CC'd it when I was 17. That was back in 2003. We had to import the game to play it, and let me tell you it was all kinds of fun trying to work out how to order an NTSC console into the UK back then.

Now don't get me wrong, I adore this game, even if I'm not likely to replay it. And people saying it's a bad shmup are just trying to be elitist. Heck, I'd struggle replaying it now 'cause it's been so long, It's hardly easy. This, guwange, and ESP.Ra.De are my fave vertical shmups of all time.

The problem is they're asking £20 for a game that's 19 years old. When you can buy something cheaper from XBLA, you know you've done something wrong. When your discount still puts it above the standard price Microsoft charge, you've really done something wrong.

I love this game, but even I won't buy it for the memories. Heck, if it was £5, I'd probably buy it out of principle. If it was £10 and I still played shmups, I'd rebuy it for achievements. As it is, I'm not even going to bother with trading cards, 'cause I don't want to support it.

I once wanted to clock every CAVE shmup. Nowadys I can't think of another company that have let me down more....except konami.

That being said, if they release ESP.Ra.De or guwange for a reasonable price, I'll probably still buy them for the memories, as I 1CC'd those as well....but I'll probably find it hard to complete them again. These old bones they ain't what they used to be....

Except Daifukkatsu came out in 2008 and wasn't on consoles until 2010

Eh Iunno. I think it's worth the price. I don't really think how old a game is should even really matter. This game to me is worth more than the newest CoD. Guwange is one of my favorite shmups of all time, I'd pay 60 bones for that ♥♥♥♥ remastered on PC without hesitation. Value is in the eye of the beholder, or something like that.

i think this is a direct port of the xbox 360 version , which was released in 2011 in the uk, which i purchased from Game for £14.99, that was for v1.5 and black label, i had the deluxe version with extras for pc on the disc. The original is Dodonpachi - Fukkatsu from 2008, so u are thinking of the original from 2002 DodonPachi - Dai-Ou-Jou.

For me i love the games, and im happy to waste £20 on a pc version which has all the DLC and 100 achievements to play for. for me its a dream come true :D

DodonPachi was released in Japan in 1997 on ps1 and saturn (i think) that was based of the original arcade version, so he may have imported on of those consoles.

You say you love it, still 20 bucks is too much... do you have a wife/girlfriend?
Wouldn't you spend 20 bucks on her because she starts to get a bit old and you can spend 10 bucks on a another girl?

Inflation alone should made this game even more expensive. How much is a console, 200£? Not everyone has one and if it's that expensive on PC, buy it on Xbox then. But then I don't understand why you own a console at all because most games are cheaper on PC if released at same time.

I don't understand how people can whine on 20£ when other games can cost the triple that, with season pass and DLC it can be even more.

All is included in this release for a great value, per hour spent this game will be one of the cheapest in my collection.

This release is fantastic, sure it got some flaws that hopefully will be addressed soon but the price isn't one of them.

What are you talking about ?

Resurrection isn't a remake, it's a full-on sequel (the 5th in the series, if I'm not mistaken). Sure $30 might seem a lot, but with 8 different modes, that actually have different scoring systems and gameplays ? It's worth it.

2003 would be the release of DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou PS2, with Death Label Arcade Mode [boss rush], No Bullets Mode [exactly what it says on the tin], and training with replay feature. It is notably BEFORE the Xbox 360 was even released.

Seems this comes up every new cave release on steam. My short answer to this is : Ive paid MORE money for games that will give me less timespent/value/enjoyment than this one.... WORTH IT :)

Baited again, another price discussion!
Wow, this thread is so dumb... Do your research, man, you clearly don't know what you're talking about.

Ok, here we go again... I bought this game because I knew I'd spend a ton of time in it, and it's day 2 and I already have 14 hours in it. Just remember that some people payed $60 for No Man's Sky and played it for 4 hours. At least we know what we want and what we're getting into. It all comes down to how long you'll play the game and how much enjoyment you get out of it. If a game were made that looks like crap, made in a month, was $30, but was actually the greatest game ever made, you know that people would be complaining that it should be $10, and on a much, MUCH less extreme scale that's what's happening here. Again, it all comes down to the quality and enjoyment you'll get from the game.

I'll wait for a big sale. $10 or under. If it was an actual box and disc then sure iid pay $30 no problem but digital- no way.

...What's the difference? They both give you the game.
