And because of that its hard for new people to get into this wonderful genre.
A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vicious circle!
CAVE were never depending on selling to the Blockbuster demographic,
nor concerned about pricing for normies.
These games are niche. They will never be mainstream.
Those of us who value them, understand their worth.
I was under the impression, that the reason for; "No more CAVE shmups on Steam? :(",
was because of difficulties the team were having in porting these old games
to modern pc hardware.
More specifically, emulating correct slowdown.

What about porting this great shmup-library???
In recent (from last autumn or smth, well) interview with M2, M2 expressed idea on doing PC ports but they had problems on win10, and no news since then
or, ahem, infamous japanese programming experience for pc...
anyway, disappointing (and i brought up it cause M2 are usually the masters of perfect ports/emulations - while these Cave+Degica ports were criticized for incorrect things here and there - some stuff was fixed though?)
Between all the Shot Triggers games and things like the Darius Cozmic Collection and SEGA Ages version of Thunder Force IV, they're putting out the definitive (or at least really good) versions of some of my favorite games.
Last autumn isn't that long ago. Hopefully something comes of it.
PC Cave Shmups are dead :(
I both admire and hate that you did that. lol. We always have to speak with our wallets, and unfortunately, that tells them to stay on console. You have seen Linux gamers insist "tux no bux" and the reason for that is pretty sensible. You must prove where the market is. Can't really blame you, though. It gets pretty old playing politics when you just want to play the games you love.
Maybe this is just fate. Maybe consoles really are just the better place for genres that hang in the balance like shmups do. I still wonder if I should have spent my money on a PS4 rather than PC upgrades (I can still sell those parts and buy a console!).
The nice part about PC is that even when consoles die out, there tend to be ways to play those games on a computer that are otherwise impossible once your console dies. PS2 is out of production now. Food for thought. I cannot condemn your love of epic shmups. I just wish we could have our cake and eat it too :P
