Syberia 3 Ending Thoughts?
I haven't seen this posted so I thought I would provide a potential outlet.

As someone who just finished this game, let me state this to anyone who may happen upon this topic and still in the process of considering a purchase: the ending blows and offers no satisfaction. To add perspective, I probably consider myself a defender of this game: I liked it despite the various bugs, awkward control scheme, easy puzzles (probably a plus for me), and the atrocious English VO, but I was completely flabbergasted at how poor the ending is. Obvious set-up for a sequel, but that only exacerbates the annoyance I feel for an unsatisfying ending. A lot of time elapsed between Syberia 2 and 3, and I'd expect a game so long in waiting not to end in this fashion.

Feel free to express your own feelings; I would like to now if my sentiments are echoed or not.

Ah yes, console versions..I don't have a PS4 so I just played on PC. So PS4 had a much smoother experience? No fair! :) I

I've just finished the game and I'm very disappointed. Whole game was very interesting and I enjoyed it. But the ending... It isn't the end. I thought this is break beetween one puzzle and another. But that was the end. Syberia 1 & 2 had some purpose. In Syberia 3 we have purpose but no solution...

What kind of horrible ending is this? Just a lame excuse for a cliffhanger so they can make a sequel that will probably never come. Rarely have i seen such an unsatisfying ending to a game.

- Kate Walker and Oscar's 'triumph'. Wow, I did all that only to see them lose in the end?!?
- The 'bad guys' never got punished. Totally out of place in a game like this.
- We never learned WHY the soldiers wanted Kate Walker.
- Efimova's indoctrination of Kurk was never used. Wasted plot twist oppurtunity.
- The Youkols have no way back to their home land. Happy ending indeed.
- And to complete the picture, the credits had no music.

Kind of fits the whole game though: unfinished, uninteresting and going nowhere. Bleh.

Just finished.. Hope for a expansion pack or sequal that doesn't take 9 years and a buncha bugs and glitches.
Fanfiction anyone? or graphic novel??

I know a really good Syberia fanfiction but it was written before the release of Syberia 3... so now it's like an alternate storyline for what else could have happened after Syberia 1 and 2.
Here it is if you're curious: http://archiveofourown.org/works/8199169/chapters/18783352
Syberia has such a small fanbase, we will have to wait for a bit for creative people to end the game so we can have new fanfictions ^^

The ending had no emotion in it whatsoever. It really seems it was done in a hurry to release the game and get rid of its tedious development.

Sad to see this happen to a Syberia title.

1 it's a cliffhanger for a 4 but you should only do it if you are 100% sure there will be one (without the mouse glitch please)
2 well as for the first one they will probably be in the 4
3 diplomatic raisons to give her back to the us
4 probably a plot in the 4 or she just failed or the thing kate said saved him or the potion
5 also the 4

well it's not an AAA game with 1000 people

There: Downer ending, but it would be 1000000 times more satisfying, since she would be free. And her possible future would be so much brighter than ANY version of this ending (survive, die, Youkols rescue her...). Syberia 4 could start on a beach this way. Now? Syberia 4 would start in a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ prison or New York. I wasn't even 100% with all this "We are such a traditional tribe, so we must go 100% with what our Youkol-bible says. Kate, make colored smoke, so that old drunk fart makes a fire and we can cross the bridge. NOO, we can't go over the bridge just now. Our chances of escaping Olgowksi and Captain One-Eye would be too high."
we don't know when the syberia 4 is begining

Just finished Syberia 3 and was disappointed too about the ending.

In Syberia 1 you reach your goal to find Hans Voralberg and get rewarded by the opportunity to leave your honest life as a lawyer behind.

In Syberia 2 you reach your goal too which is to fulfill Hans childhood dream to meet the mammoths on the mysterious island of Syberia, and get rewarded not only by happy looks but by definitely having left your haunters behind, the detective and the ivory hunters.

In Syberia 3 you might have reached your goal to lead the youkol and their ostrichs to the sacred lands, but get punished for all your self-abandonment in one of the worst ways possible: by getting caught by your haunters with a chance to be brought back to hospital and get tortured there. That's an absolutely unsatisfying ending.

I wasn't real happy with the ending for sure. Expected more. Got to the river. Went through all the stuff. lit the fire had the smoke going and that was it. You are left to assume the party crossed the river. Once you start the smoke, that is it, you are left just standing there waiting for something to happen. I would have thought they would have at least crossed the river to complete the story. I was just browsing around and discovered this series and bought all three, and played them one after the other. Played the story all the way through to be left standing on the river bank and assuming you got across. I did have all the smoke signals going, so all was good. Just a poor way to end a game.

I'm very late to this discussion, but I just found it this morning. I am so disappointed in this game. I've said for two decades that Syberia I & II were two of my favorite games I've ever played. When I heard that they were in the works for III, I was so excited. I actually got this game a few years back, but couldn't play it, since I didn't have a gaming computer at the time. I just finished playing it and I'm so mad and disappointed.
The gameplay wasn't as easy as I and II, meaning, I found the controls to be meh. It was jerky and temperamental at times. Also, can we talk about the storyline? 13 years between releases, and that's all we get?!?! I don't even mean just the ending, but the whole darn thing. At first, I was like, I am not going to bash on the poor reviews I read on the game, because I haven't finished it yet, and I was hoping it would tie things up nicely. Nope. Just nope. Disjointed plot, no real reason why characters are the bad or good guys, they're just there.
I have the World Before, but I need a break after that game. I can't with it.
Edit: 13 years between releases, and it took another 6 years for me to have the time to play it, so 19 years in the waiting, and that's all we get. Thanks for letting me vent.

These Syberia games/stories are just fantasy, creating impossible scenarios in a melodramatic, pseudo scientific way, each preparing the way for the next. Not giving anything away, but the entire SyberiaTWB plot depends upon Kate being captured and winding up in a cell in a remote mine. Many good plots move from joy to sorrow, some several times. For me, the plots, though far fetched, retained my interest, even to the last of SyberiaTWB,. So I just enjoyed being able to move through each situation to the next, without thinking of how it might relate to "reality". So play and happy gaming to everyone!
