Is this game worth it?
I've played Syberia I and II and they were amazing but I'm not really convinced about this one. Is the story as good as the first two?

Nothing wrong with the story but the mechanics of playing and the difficulty in some places of finding ones way around I found a problem.

I have to disagree. The story lacks cohesion and consistency with the stories of the previous Syberia games. The gameplay and puzzles are rather mediocre too.

Overall I'd say stay away, especially if you're a fan of previous games.

Thank you for your replies. I purchase the game now at least. Maybe if the sale is huge. I'm disappointed because I really liked the first two and I've been waiting for this one.

I am fan of syberia I and II and I like syberia 3 - the strory is good but a little bit different than previous ones. Although I have to admit that the gameplay and puzzles are not so thrilling.

Totally agree with COMBine loved first 2 hate this one -impossible to pass control panel , no regular saves ,slow to move anything .
having updated graphics etc for this game found this to be an enormous letdown and just about given up (also crashes on exit shutdown every time (QuitGame)
anyone know how to get past this or patches etc even had different noted game players attempt this without success so it appears to be a total waste of money

I played a Syberia sequence some years ago on Bigfish, 1- 3. Was much cheaper then. Loved the game, beautiful storyline, wonderfull and miraculous world, although the graphics from them might be not appreciated nowadays.
I still can play it on Big Fish (although they robbed me from the third part, I just noticed).
Question: is the this Syberia on steam just a grahphical update or is there more to explore?

The 1st and 2nd are exactly the way they used to be before. I didn't play them on Steam either. I considered getting the 3rd part which was realeased not a long time ago. Most people say it's pretty bad even though they tried to improve the graphics and such. I really loved the first two parts. :tobdog:

The Syberia on Bigfish was the first Syberia, divided in three parts. Syberia 2 and 3 continue the storyline of the first Syberia.

From the trailer, looks like every young to middle-aged female is voiced by the same woman. She didn't even try to make it sound menacing for the badguy

The voice acting in this game across the board is horrendous. Terrible delivery by just about every character. I don't understand how the original game that was made so many many years before this one has perfectly acceptable to good voice acting yet this newest one is just agonizing to listen to. I feel embarassed for the actors delivering their lines in this game. I was severely disappointed as a whole, especially as I had just come off playing the first 2 games right before this one and the previous 2 are just so much better as adventure games and at delivering a good story.

I bought it yesterday and refunded. I didn't feel it was worth fifteen bucks, much less my time.

I agree the voice acting was horrendous. To me Kate Walker, even though she had the same English voice actor, sounded very different. That itself isn't bad, but the other characters were awful. The non-existent lip sync made it worse.

However, truth be told, you can easily make the voice acting much much better. As an experiment I changed the voices to French. Sure enough the voices fit much better. Lip sync was also mostly spot-on. I wouldn't have minded reading subs if anything interesting was being said.

Also I had noticed a few instances of characters talking without moving their mouths. Changing languages of course won't fix broken animations.
