No official statements but maybe it's just not supported on new hardware and OSes? Haven't seen any complaints though, so not sure, but maybe their Support were getting some.

Well i have this game in my library long time i have windows 7 and i think it runs pretty well
about hardware i have gtx 1070
and cpu Amd fx-3370

back when i was a kind i thought this game has really good graphics
but now i am aware of almost non-existent story
entire game is tech demo.Like for example rage
if i remember correctly game also had editor and
Chrome engine could be at that time game was released could compared to cry engine which powered first far cry...

physics and water reflections are also very good
Game is unbelieveably hard
Its almost like surival based FAR CRY 1
survival because inventory is very small
its also fun to use vehicles in this game...

Windows 7 runs most older games correctly, that's another reason i'm still using it as well.
Win10 breaks a lot of even quite recent games as far as i hear. So some companies probably get tired of angry Win10 customers and take the games out of store.

Yeah that might be the reason...
But still they could just patch the game
I dont really care when windows 7 looses support i will be using it until my death which wont be anytime soon so...♥♥♥♥ you microsft and you smart-os windows 10 :Deer:
I have been looking on yt comparisons of video games on same hardware just different system
Windows 7 runs games much better then windows 10 its not just hardware
I think it might be because windows 10 has many stupid functions which you cant turn off and even if you could i think results would be still same because windows10 was made for multimedia like movies songs and casual computer use...It looks stupid the entire look of that system...

I can confirm the game does work on win 10. There's even some unofficial patches to get 16:9 aspect ratio, LoD lock and other fixes.

As for the removal... Techland ended any and all support for the game. They even wiped the entire list of older games they made, erased the entire history and left just a few money-makers: https://techland.net/games
They've been making games since 2000 but you can get a list of those only on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Techland_video_games

Chrome cannot be bought in any way.

edit: typo

Weird decision, like they don't want a bit extra money
Maybe decided that offsets sales off their newer games
Still strange

Hmm, what if they have sold rights to those older games for some reason? I heard Techland had been in financially hard times.

That could make sense.
so i was playing chrome yesterday and i got to say bad thing if they did sell chrome
because they could make remake with better graphics that game has very nice soundtrack and i can imagine that those cutscenes,ai and models with foliage would look today insane...

If that is true remake is maybe happening or will never happen

There's been a sequel in the works but it has been canceled.
At the time it was about to be a big splash in the industry with some top notch grafics and interactive environment.

Here's a GDC 2006 showcase of an early build: https://youtu.be/MX9NtGtE3KA

I was really excited when I saw the news back then but that time is long gone. It's been 13 years.

For 2007 those are some great graphics. Shame it was canceled.

I have Win8 and no problems running it. I don't know how Steam works but Netflix typically has deals for limited amounts of time. I do wonder why a developer would do that with Steam. Chrome isn't alone and it sucks when something you're about to buy goes off.

Games that were taken off Steam are sometimes still available through third party resellers. Chrome was sold on Green Man Gaming for a while after it was pulled but that's no longer the case. At this point there's no way to buy it and even pirating is a problem becouse it is not the most popular download on the web.

Chrome used to be sold as standard physical package. Chrome Specforce might as well. There might be some on eBay.

Probably has to do with Techland being bought out by Warner Brothers. It' probably has to be repackaged but maybe WB decide it wasn't worth the trouble?
Mrony Aug 1, 2019 @ 10:03am
If that's the case and Techland's properties are now in the WB basket then I'd say Warner Brothers doesn't even know Chrome exists.

It seems all Techland projects have been put on hold with Dying Light's success. They even stopped working on Hellraid, the Coop Heretic/Hexen spiritual successor, iirc. :sadsad:
