i'm about an hour into the game (still in the tutorial, rip) and i was generally enjoying it until haksun showed up. like, did they really have to make a designated "extremely shady middle eastern merchant with a giant nose" character? am i the only one who's seeing this and feels viscerally uncomfortable?

I'm here with you. It's getting better on Steam but people don't like when you point out things that might suggest things that they enjoy have problems. It's just...shockingly bad. Not even subtle. And at that point all the characters are blonde! It literally crossed my mind at a certain point this game might have some sort of Aryan signaling. Of course I don't think that but...it's weird.

god, yeah, the blonde thing left me a little uneasy, too. haksun specifically was the point where i put down the game, though- just kind of rubbed me the wrong way a little too much.

I guess my blond-haired blue-eyed family should hide in a closet, dye our hair or remove ourselves from reality entirely since we are a testemony of Aryan supremacy? You know, sometimes blood related features are strong in every family member. I found it weird (in a way "hmm, why no creativity in this regard?") for like 5 mins or however much time there is to know that they are all family.

I never even saw haksun as anything real life related. It's a gnome. Nonexistant race in a nonexistant world.

I dunno how people can get offended by everything these days. It's fun in a sad way. 90s were better in this regard.

As Heathen said above, it never made me think like that? Family ties are family ties - it honestly would be actually weird, if all of them would be different. The only "uncreative" thing is the fact that Griffith is blonde guy as well - but I dunno, maybe it was supposed to make the effect that he's also part of the family - like being, really, really close - like actually the game doesn't give us that much time to get that close with the characters, so that graphic way to show us that hey, that guy is incredibly close to the siblings, works well. And that would be not the only moment, when the how the character looks, is important - as for example Crucey, honestly, could not look even more deciously-capitalist.

About the gnome, isn't it like they are shown really often? Harry Potter, The Witcher... And I remembered that guy the most not with the fact he's merchant, but with the fact he's not so succesful inventor.

And as was said above, today days are insane. Especially in the West. You totally can't do nothing without being rascist or anything else.

I remember I made a joke to my friend that since the main character is Kay Loren -> Kylo Ren, so Ascalia would be actually para-fascist state-kingdom or sth that would want to expland on whole continent and so. Honestly, after seeing this thread, I feel like there are people, who might think like that for real.
