Also a big thing is that ranked modes has been separated from the story campaign, and instead of just a level select, there is now an expanding hub world and the addition of powerups and more collectables in levels in the story mode.
That is the brief explanation at least :)
I can get specific here if you want but if you're new this will probably be lost slightly in translation.
The main drawing point of the original to me is the level editor but the super game has plenty to keep you going for a start.
Casual first playthrough will probably take between 8 and 30 hours depending on how you hard you push and how good you are. Same applies to both games. Huge range I know but it's a tough game and if you aren't trying to beat it and get done, it allows quite a bit of exploring
There's some bonus levels to unlock and ranked/rush mode available after that.
It's the same story as the original, but it's told much better in SCB I would say.
Combat comes 2nd to platforming in both games on most levels.
I'd personally recommend super to the first time player but there's an argument for original in terms of level choice and mechanics preference.
I have both games in my wishlist, so after reading this thread, I think that I will buy only Super Cloudbuilt instead of both. I don't want to play an improved version of a game that I've already played.
'Real', I'd say generally speaking, yes, the general Cloudbuilt experience is included in Super Cloudbuilt. If a new player to the series is looking to play one or the other only, I'd recommend Super Cloudbuilt. This is generally due to its polish and wider accessibility (but that doesn't mean easier). Super eases you in a little more slowly and gives you options to lower the difficulty (via repeatable-collectible one time power-ups) if you really need it.
OG Cloudbuilt does have its unique offerings. The game mainly has a very different feeling in terms of its movement physics/mechanics. I'd say the original feels "heavier" and more prone to physics exploitation. There are also distinct design changes when it comes to presentation and levels outright. Some levels are slightly tweaked, others have entirely different sections. The first real level is actually completely different between the two games. Other differences include story presentation and dialogue (minor changes). Music is also mixed differently (same music, slightly different remaster). One of the best features to miss from the original is steam workshop support, but Super Cloudbuilt will give a new player plenty to chew on.
The best analogy I can think of right now is drinking water from the tap. The original Cloudbuilt is like drinking straight from the tap. Super Cloudbuilt is more ilke drinking water from the tap but with a home filter on your faucet. The tap water will pour very quickly and have a more raw and saltier taste. The filtered water will probably taste a bit smoother and pour a little slower. Most people will probably say the filtered water is more sastifying to drink, but others might prefer the quick and raw taste from the tap. At the end of the day though, you're generally drinking the same water.
There are things about the orginal I appreciate (and perhaps even slightly prefer in terms of subtle design taste), but overall, I enjoy Super Cloudbuilt more thoroughly. Super has more levels, polish, and it's just a dang fun game. You can't go wrong getting it.

Btw, the music is a bit more than just a remaster, some tracks have two version in the new game, or been extended, but also, there are now live recorded instruments for some tracks, which to me at least is an awesome upgrade made possible by Lincke and his musician friends :)
Not to also mention smaller things that make it a lot easier. Like being able to have multiple story saves profiles in the same save file. Which was not possible in the old game, making things a lot more tougher when it came to some skins and achievements and similar´things.
Thanks for trying to explain it in a simple way though. And I agree, that for a new player, this is the version to play. Unless you really like this one and want to see where it started, or have played all the content in this one, including all the secret and hidden levels, and really just want more so the custom levels in the old one can give you that, there should be no real reason to play the original. We wanted this to be the definitive version for new players in every way possible, and we also tried to add new things and twists to make it interesting for returning players as well
