Game not starting on 64-bit Windows 7 (workaround)
Fresh install of this game quits silently immediately after starting on my Windows (64-bit) system (not even a splash screen); starting the game directly (not through Steam) gives a useful error message about a missing OpenAL32.dll.

The OpenAL32 installer (Install\oalinst.exe) doesn't seem to work (though it says it does if you run it), or at least neither I nor the game can find the 32-bit OpenAL32.dll the game needs afterwards.

I copied oalinst.exe over to a 32-bit system (I had a Windows XP Virtual Machine handy), and copied the resulting %WINDIR%\system32\OpenAL32.dll into this game's bin folder, and the game now works.

I reported this to 1C support - maybe they can provide a working oalinst.exe with their Steam release?

Anyone know of a free tool to extract OpenAL32.dll from oalinst.exe on a 64-bit system? (I can get part of the way there with 7-Zip, but don't see any files the right size and don't know how to get the rest of the way.)

AFAIK OpenAL was orifinally developed by Creative Labs. I couldn't find a download there, but Sourceforge has a project named OpenAL, maybe it's worth a try?
Using Win7 64-bit Professional myself and the installer provided by the game didn't cause any trouble. Also it could be because some other game already installed those drivers already.

Luckily I have a hard-drive chock a block of older games, I just copied the OpenAl32.dll from my Minecraft Tekkit backup folder to the Rig n Roll Bin folder and hey presto - game runs!
