Front Line-Not enough Spawn

I'm encountering a bug, where if you're over an 1hour into the mission on max difficulty, just not enough enemy ants spawn to lower the bar, yet the bar still goes up. By means of attrition, this would mean I would have to play +4 hours to beat this mission .
