Leaf cutter and food
hi,
i am the only one wanting the leafcatters get more food?

I felt they get to les. Because they can not loot enemy nests, can not loot defeated enemies, elites or huge creatures and the regrowth feels slower than with honey, seeds.

I played now two games. Same map, same starting location, same anemies, same difficulty, same options. With the leafcutters i have luck. The first colony dies next to me. So i had the whole map for me except acorridor at the bottom of the map were the two remainiung ants are fighting. I gathered 45.000 food in arround 2 hours. At the start it was good, but after all was gathered once, the regrwoths was aweful.
Also the reward to loss ratio is aweful. 615 plant can replace 100 mediums. With for example the counterpart a 1500 fish can replace 450 ants. So fighting for food is for meat/seed eating ants relative easy. Their loose per foodsource to worth fighting is way better than the leaf cutters.

On the 2nd playthrough i had a bad position. My starting food was only 2 sources of seeds. The rest was in the area of the AI. Only with time this changed to my favour. At the end after 2h i defeated every other antcolony on the map and build 100 workers t3, 400 collectors with t3 and 117 major armyant soldiers. Collected food was 143.000.

So with worse starting food available i could gather in the same time more than 3 times the food than the leafcutters had.

So i think the leafcutters should get more lead from plants and the regrowth should be faster/higher. Or maybe modfier from food to fungus from 1:1 to 1:1,5. Also i would like to see a slider in the option were i can adjust how many leafs / dead wood i want... like i can adjust the food from creatures.

What do you think?
If i build a nest, i have the intention to fully build it up. Every tile in the nest. And upgrade to t3. Otherwile it feels not ready.

greetings
nordstern

Mine is to process the food faster or just make a bar that you can control if you want some minims to just remove waste and the other to just only process food or I have to have lots of Unfinished leaves and waste that just can't be removed in leaf cutter levels especially the harvest

i know this problem but its not soo bad. Normaly i have a wastestorage at arround 3840 and leafstorage of 2.000. The leafs are almost empty. And the waste is no problem. It gets a problem but then the regrowth is so low that this problem solves itself over time.

At the end i had a food difference (collected overall) of 300%. And one antrace were i hold my ground but could not defeat an enemy race in 2h (ok, i build up long) because the gathered food available on the map could not compansate the lost food through combat or war. And on the other side i had the counterpart race which i could defeat all 3 nests, 2 huge creatures and 1 elite in the same time. And combatlosses were never a problem.

You can choose which antrace you want... food will never be a problem. Even the termits get more food after the last buff with a garanteed food next to the nest.
If you're struggling with food as the leafcutters, that usually means you're upgrading too early and not making enough minor workers at the start. I usually aim for at least 19 workers before I start making media brood tiles.

And enemy colonies do drop food for leafcutters. If the leafcutters deal the finishing blow to the queen, the tiles in the colony will drop leaf chunks.

I've never had a problem as the leafcutters unless I'm fighting wood ants. They are literal steamrollers once they get going, but the level 3 mortar wood ants can wreck the stacked leafcutter ants.

i strugggle with food because i want to build up the whole nest. and i can do this witj every antrace except the leaf cutters.
You might want to try setting the game to freeplay and survival mode. You can still fight the other colonies if you want, but the biggest change is that plants will regrow much much faster than in regular skirmish.

Though uh...with how far you like to take your colony, even that probably won't be enough. That would be neat if there was a "food" slider or something that multiplied how much food objects have in them.

maybe i can do this. I did not know this. But this is not a solution of the problem. Its more a temporary way arround it.
