Triage
Am I doing something wrong?

I feel like I'm not improving on this mission at all. I tried being faster, kill more cycling between the three termite nests quickly.

But even when I cleared out my nest and tried to balance soldiers and medics (23+/30+ Soldier/Medic ratio) I usually didn't have nearly enough food for the Scorpion.

I tried micro-managing heals and the climb or not climb toggle so my soldiers wouldn't climb all the time.

But I still lose.

Should I even spam this many soldiers or just upgrade them? Is it even worth upgrading the soldiers/medics over getting more?

Should I bring Fast Responder over Anesthetist?

I need some advice because it feels like I'm spending hours without improving.

It's a stupid mission with a stupid species, not sure what else to tell you, as you already seem to be doing what is required.

Okay, I think I realize what might be the problem.

The medics are absolute garbage. It's better to just get more soldiers.

You should only get a large number of medics if you go the Fast Responder Route. Otherwise, just get the stinger medics to level 3 and spam level 1 soldiers.

I'll be re-attempting the level to see if it makes a big difference.

1. What difficulty are you on, That changes the strat entirely.
2. have you been clearing out your nest? that is alot of emergency food that is good if termites dont help, you should have approx 700-1.2k food if on hard/extreme.
about 20 medics and 30-35 soldiers will be more than enough if you have the food, which wont be hard to get if you time your termite attacks till when theres the most workers

I'm on Hard.

And yeah, I'm clearing out food during the heat waves.

okay for hard you'd probably need to stockpile more food, also try and pick up every corpse possible with a medic as getting even 10 more soldiers will be a massive help, for me i use anesthetist mainly due to the slower attack speed

Okay, it's official, triage is probably my least favorite mission until I encounter whatever ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ 5.2 and 5.3 is waiting for me.

I think I got it down what I'm supposed to do, and will retry tomorrow.

However, I can confidently say with no doubt that this is the least fun mission in this entire game.

Whoever designed the Emperor Scorpion can go stick their head into a Bullet Ant's nest.

Least Fun in this entire game so far*

Atleast with the other missions, me figuring them out involves engaging with the mechanic of the ants and still having fun.

This level is just dumb micro-management.
Antiga Jun 11, 2024 @ 8:24am
Most missions done on impossible.
I can't even get through this one on easy. Centipede just keeps wiping me out. There is something wrong with this mission, I wouldn't be surprised if some of the difficulty scaling is wrong, and Easy and Medium just ends up making it harder, as I was doing better on Hard and Extreme, even meeting the scorpion. But on easy/medium, Centipede is OP. Man, this map has entirely ruined the game for me. I'm done.

You need to persist! Damn I was struggling with this level but you will eventually kind of get a feel for it. You need A LOT of food stocked to survive the Emp. scorpion, I had around 1.1k food stored on Hard and I still just barely pulled through. The mission definitely isn't that enjoyable, I'll give you that. It feels very different from the prior campaign missions, at least from a difficulty standpoint (Might be off here).

I'm going to play 5.2 soon, but 5.3 was thoroughly enjoyable and on hard I beat it in 3 tries - pretty alright, considering the termite-exclusive mechanics you are introduced to for the level.

I want to quit this game just from 5.1 alone.

I hate this Scorpion.

I hate it. I genuinely despise it. I STILL LOST.

It's always the same ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, 7k HP and he wins. It's so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

♥♥♥♥ this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass boss, and this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ass game.

Mind you, I'm pretty sure I got the momentum down and was nearly killing one of the ♥♥♥♥ ass termite colonies even with all the fodders predators ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ me in the ass with their stupid patrols but I really don't wanna make another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ attempt at this stupid ass level.

I even went as far as to micro workers to make termite harvesting even more efficient but still ♥♥♥♥ this level.

I absolutely despise it and it entirely soured my opinion of this game entirely.

It feels like I'm making absolutely 0 progress at killing that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ bastard of a scorpion even though this time around I managed to collect twice the amount of resources I did last time.

Seriously ♥♥♥♥ that bastard, why the ♥♥♥♥, does he needs a huge area stun attack that ALSO confuses your ants?

I hate this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ level.

I saved up 700 food, got nearly 50 soldiers, gathered up 16 level 3 anesthetists, and even got a squad of 16 workers running distraction and I STILL lost to this f^*kface.

I hate him.

And it's not like I'm playing on Impossible or anything, this is just HARD.

Why the hell is this HARD level feeling more Impossible than some of the Impossible Challenges I attempted in the past?

Hey, just some tips that hopefully make 5.1 more enjoyable:

  • Don't listen to the narrator when he says don't over harvest the termites. Exploit the ♥♥♥♥ out of them. The day before each titan attacks, kill a colony for thousands of food. To do this, repeatedly attack the same colony to weaken them.

  • Before you kill any termite colony, make sure you have at least 50 workers to help gather from them. Workers are really good for getting a lot of food (toggle their attack off).

  • Once your army is decent (25+ soldiers), spawn camp outside termite nest entrance hole to kill their whole army for a lot of food (toggle your soldier gather off initially so you can easily kill the termite colony with numbers). Remember once you have equal numbers or outnumber the termite army, you can beat them (A matabele soldier is nearly twice as strong as a big termite soldier).

  • From the beginning, build medics in approx 1:1 ratio with soldiers. They are extremely good for almost doubling the number of ants you have. Fast responders do more damage and anesthetists prevent enemies from doing as much damage to you. Both are good for this level. Don't bother upgrading them (numbers are better for termite gathering and reviving more dead ants).

  • During the first day when you're too weak to fight lizards, clear the underground termites. Try to get as many medics as starting soldiers you have with this food.

  • See 43:40 in video for how you can completely ignore the emperor scorpion when he's outside your nest and keep gathering food. Make sure to kill the termite colony before he spawns, then toggle attack/titan climbing off for all your ants.

There are several different ways to win this level but this is just my preferred strategy.

I realize it's difficult to convey strategies just through text, so I made this video to help demonstrate the strategy written above. I split the video into chapters so you can easily skip to any boss or particular part of the level. Hope this helps.

I have been able to clear this mission now.

The method is easier than I thought.

And yeah, I figured out that the method is to murderize the dumb termite.
