Want to play and watch a simple Ant Farm

I see Kloud77 has posted what may be a similar post. I really really want a good realistic looking and playing ant farm simulation that doesn't take a lot of (preferably no) intervention.

To put it another way, I have a beautiful aquarium program (behind glass - highly recommended) where I can setup a tank and then just watch the fish. I want the same thing with ants.

Is there any possible way to "play" this game in that manner or at least get somewhat close? Perhaps after unlocking some stuff in missions that makes it possible.

What is the closest you can get to that in this game?

You could play a custom game with hostile enemies turned off, nest invasions disabled and have 4 colonies allied together. It might get you part of the way there.

It is important to note that Empires of the Undergrowth is primarily a nature-based RTS, though, and its simulation elements are in service of that.
