xaudio2.7 is not installed

I get this error when I launch the game, then have absolutely no sound. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling already. Does anyone know of a fix? I don't have any problems with other games.

A quick search shows this is a rare problem that sometimes happens with Unreal Engine 4 games (most of the results are for Fortnite). I'm away from my office rn so can't dig much further, but it might give you a starting point.

Quick internet search suggests to install DirectX, specifically DX9. The last DirectX SDK that ships xaudio 2.7 dates back to June 2010.

I'm surprised the game still looks for it. Microsoft seems to have already removed the downloads for it, however, the DLL should already exist. I have XAudio2_7.dll in C:\Windows\System32 and C:\Windows\SysWOW64.

Do not download the DLL from non-Microsoft sources.
