IMPORTANT - How To Get Crash Reports To Us
If you suffer a persistent crash in the game, it is important that you email in the crash reports that the engine generates to us. Simply clicking "Send and Close" does not work - those reports go to the engine makers, not us, where they will be ignored.

If you get any crashes, we ask politely if you could email us, attaching the crash log files which you can find by following the link on the crash reporter (see the image linked below). Any contextual information you can provide would also be useful - what you were doing at the time of the crash, your hardware specs, etc.

A note about some crashes that are coming in: it's clear that there are broken save files that have been caused by using external software or save editing to train / cheat.

Whilst we don't have strong opinions on this since it's a single player game, please note that if you break something by altering it externally, you're on your own. If we're not careful we could waste hours of dev time looking for issues that are caused by external alteration, and this has indeed happened recently.

So, if you've got a crash and have been editing your saves or the behaviour of the game in any way, there's nothing we can do - please delete your saves and reinstall the game from scratch.

http://www.slugdisco.com/CrashReport.png - how to find the crash files

Email the files to crashes@slugdisco.com

Also, zipping up and sending us your save files too as these could be very helpful.

They will usually be found at C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Local\EotU\Saved (where C is the drive letter of the drive with your Windows installation, and YOUR_USERNAME is your Windows username). Please note, the AppData folder is usually set to be hidden, so you will need to set Windows File Explorer to 'Show Hidden Files and Folders' (Googling this should show you how).

Getting crash reports to us using this method is important because without them, it is very difficult to get to the bottom of the issue, particularly if it is not a widespread one and particular to your system. Thanks again for playing, and we will try to fix crashes wherever possible.

Love this game but it crashes like a mad dog I have sent in crash reports like crazy but it still crashes and they are unpredictable. Sometimes it happens every couple minutes, sometimes it could be awhile. Most though not all crashes occur during the Formicarium.

This game is a great game but seems unplayable for me at present. I cannot get through a second level challenge without a crash. It is exasperating and I feel I may need to abandon the game for now.

Sent the crash repots and saved games. Now we wait I guess because the game is unplayable for the amount of crashing it does, especially on level 2 but it even crashes on level one, just not as much. Basically it either freezes and quits or it just hangs the entire computer (less common).

Thanks for sending in the reports. It's very likely that the issue is specific to your setup; we'll have a close look at things and see what we can do.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I'd play the game on Mac OS but I currently use system 10.11 and do not want to mess with anything during the Pandemic in case I need help from an Apple Store (as I didd once in the past). I currently play via bootcamp and everything else I play on steam via bootcamp works including games that work on later Mac OS versions.

RIght - if it's an Apple system this makes things a bit clearer. There was an OS X update a few months back that has caused a bunch of crashes but we haven't been able to quite get to the bottom of it - it might be due to Apple's new notarisation process or something entirely unrelated. I understand that it's frustrating but we're on it.

Bear in mind that I am NOT playing it directly via the apple system because it requires a newer version that I am using at present. I am playing it via Windows 8.1 in Bootcamp. I play many games this way on my Mac but using Windows via Bootcamp. This is the first one I encountered that crashes in Windows 8.1 and I have played MANY games in Windows 6.1 in Steam via Bootcamp

Does that include other Unreal Engine 4 games? We'll look into it but I'm not convinced that emulating Windows 8.1 with Boot Camp is viable for UE4 games. Could you try Windows 10?

I do not have Windows 10. I have been able to run every game that Windows can run. I even can play, for example, Rome 2 Total War with mods in effect without any problem. Nearly every game I have tried on Steam in windows works perfectly including those using mods.

I have run games through Steam in Bootcamp using Windows 8.1 that require Game Ranger, Game Center, Uplay, as well as Razer software that only runs in Windows including Cortex, All of them work beautifully without a hitch. This is the first game I have encountered that crashes like this and I have noticed some others on these discussion boards having the same problems as I have. I also easily run your other game Beetles Uprising with no problems so far. EotU is the ONLY game I have played in Windows 8.1 through Bootcamp that crashes like this. I use mods on many games in Windows 8.1 in Bootcamp and have no issues at all. Even newly released games that only run on Windows run just fine in Bootcamp (e.g., Unity of Command 2, Jurassic World Evolution, and early releases such as Uboat, Saurion), I really hope you can find the problem because your game is great and I cannot use OS 10.12 or higher for the time being (it is complicated).

Hey, just to be clear here before we go down a rabbit hole that might lead to nowhere, have you tried other UE4 games? Fortnite, etc, there are a lot of them. If it is genuinely EotU we will do our best to get to the bottom of it.

Beetle Uprising is not a UE4 game.

I do play Ancestors Legacy often and it uses Ureal Engine 4. Never ever crashed and I can only play it in Bootcamp.

Thanks. We'll look over it all!

Thanks, as a Biology professor I appreciate the realistic motion and behavior of the various arthropods in the game.

Mine doesn't even load anymore, it just crashes after launch. The other day I was on misson 2.1 and the graphics started getting fuzzy and then the screen started flashing white. I restarted steam and the pc thinking that would fix the issue but now it's not even launching.
