Poor instruction on the part of the development, there should be an indicator that pops up telling you what the requirements are needed to advance to challenge 2 when you put your mouse over the Formicarium Challenge 2
OK like i said i have completed Formicarium Challenge 1, both New Home and Subjugation on Medium and Formicarium Challenge 2 is still grayed out. I just went back and did both of them on Hard because i was thinking you had to do them on hard level and Formicarium Challenge 2 is still not available so i guess that's not the case, it's still grayed out.
Mr. Know it all, thanks for your help not, and as far as me needing people to hold my hand that's far from the truth and if you can't be helpful don't bothering trolling the discussion board and insulting people a$$ hole. I didn't design the game and i have done both level 1 on hard now and still not level 2 available.
The big square button that says "Formicarium Challenge 1" - have you pressed it and completed the waves of ants that the scientists send at you?
No wasn't aware it needed to be clicked on, it looks like a header, i have clicked and completed the small one's below that say 1.1 and 1.2. I will try clicking the header that doesn't look anything like a button or anything you would need to click on. I think it's just a choice of design you picked, it's very miss leading, has wasted hours of my time, I think most that viewed that would think you needed to click the round things that have the two challenges. Thanks i will try the header bar.
I agree it could be better. It has a fairly high success rate in getting people to select it but you're not the first to complain about it. I'm sure a redesign of the level selection process is on the cards before full release (maybe even something as simple as highlighting it after you've completed the two levels).
It's all good Mike, just came here looking for help and I appreciate your reply. I think your design looks nice, nothing wrong with it for the most part and I didn't mean to come across as insulting. Good design, not so good presentation. most who use the internet and me coming from a background of 20 years of graphics design and a little internet web design background I can honestly say myself and most people would perceive The header as just that and never think to click it, it's like a presentation for what follows which is the 2 round buttons below. It reminds me of a web page for the most part and that doesn't make it a bad thing it's just that most people would not click a header of a web page and it would be perceived as nothing more then a pcs of artwork. Maybe leave it the way it is and just unlink the header and add a 3rd button. Or maybe don't change it at all :)
Also wanted to thank you for the game, it's really cool and i am enjoying the game very much. Back in the late 80's or maybe early 90's i had a pc game called Sim Ant, still have the disc, that was cool and that is why i purchased your game.
What i don't like is people that just go into the discussion areas like that jerk above and insult people and make them out to be stupid. The discussion boards are for people to communicate and get help if they run into things they can't figure out. Steam and even developers encourage us to use the discussion boards. Going in and trolling the discussion boards and then for the most part attacking people is not helping anyone and obviously that guy isn't interested in helping anyone so my question is if your in here seeking answers you belong here, if your hear insulting people and trolling the discussion boards your not here to help your looking for an opportunity to be rude and attack people. he could of helped me or anyone but he chose not to, so why be here...
have you ever visited a youtube channel called AntsCanada, check it out it's really cool and it might give you some ideas and it's just fun to see this guy do his ant thing.
One of my jobs as a moderator here is to keep things civil, so I'll ask Masterλntlion to please not be so condescending in the future - there is really no need for it. Let's all just be kind. It's the simplest thing in the world to do, but we all find it so difficult for some reason. Myself included.
The scientist go overboard when he 'unleash' his arsenal! I had more than 30 ants with the royal jelly improvement for 'decent fighters' for my ants and i was overwhelmed when he send his big Devil Coach's thing to me with so many ants!
Does that mean i absolutely have to get the fighter ants to resist his onslaught?... if that is so, it is poor design because you don't get enough jelly to get those if you choose (after the first mission) more food over jelly. it is like my bad decision totally make my 20 min onslaught thing a dead sentence without warning and that is no fun... :( When the dev say that 'this is the gateaway mission' i didn't know it means ''This is the ultimate test for your colony so make sure you have completed those 2 missions down below and update your ants to be mean and buff out...''
Ok enough complaining. I love the game i just wish for a more relax experience. I now started a freeplay colony instead and removed most adult creature leaving just a few of those and i like building up my colony. i really believe the game could be improve with fish getting degrading as creature eat up on it...but maybe i am being too gore? ;)
Actually i experienced the same only do to trying to complete the challenge to soon. If you do many of the small challenges 1st and get royal jelly and upgrade your ants and work on making a bigger colony the challenge will be easier to complete. The gateaway missions are the mission that allow you to go to the next level and if you try to complete early in the development of your colony yes they will be over run and killed. So do the 1st two basic missions like New Home and Subjugation and try them on different difficulties. The higher the difficulties the more resources you get and take the reward that gives you the most royal jelly until your ants are all upgraded. Once you have upgraded all your ants and have a good amount of ants in your colony then do the gateway challenge. Also you can use the upgrade tool and upgrade your soldier ants to level 3 which will make them stronger and fight and defend better.
