Alternate game mode: Bees
Be cool if there was a DLC?Expansion that adds playable bees and wasps to the game.

Wild Honeybees, Paper Wasps, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ (Sorry i mean Yellowjacket Wasps), Bumble Bees etc.

Paper Wasps for example could build their nests above ground on a tree or fence etc, gathering both plant fiber(Building) and insects(Food for growth), Honeybees also above ground but only require necter.

Wasps amd Bumble Bees both below ground, The wasps going for everything, flowers and insects and whatever they can scavang and Bumble Bees just Nector but having to manage with smaller numbers (Or something i dunno lol)

One mechanic for the polinators is that to get their food they have to be activly gathering due to the flowers dieing off but if polinated new ones will grow and replenish/expand the supply, could be fun.

(This game is early access, but I like your idea.)

Might be an idea for a future game! Yes lots of bees and wasps nest underground but you immediately think of the species that build nests up high or in nooks and that's what I'd want to see in a game that focuses on bees. It's probably a bit far removed from the systems we have set up for EotU for a full-on change of mode, but other eusocial insects are just as fascinating as ants are.

Problem with bees and wasps is they would require a COMPLETELY different gameplay, simply due to the vast distances they travel in their search for food.

Even large ants usually don't travel further than a few hundred meters from their nests, smaller ants a LOT less. Tetramorium pavement ant colonies often have a sphere of influence that doesn't even cover a radius of 20 meters from their main nest entrance.

I think a good way of doing this would be, you know how we have a formicarium and then some missions, well with bees you could have the nest ( wether its a bee box in someones yard with a "mad farmer" or a real nest on a tree ( with a map of the inside the nest and the imediate area, you could then have a secondary bigger map of his whole backyard where he has varius gardens for the bees to feed from, and then the missions could be farther away locations. i have no idea how the team would come up with dangers for the bees tho, i think bees only really swarm something that messes with their nest, they don't really travel in packs unless the queen is moving to a new location right?

or as an alternative to someones backyard it could be a stretch of forrest
