Screen Shot Saturday - Beetle Larvae In Motion
Coming in the next patch for Empires of the Undergrowth - Challenge Mode for levels 2.1 Rising Tide and 2.2 Queen of the Hill! When in Challenge Mode, these levels will feature terrifying beach tiger beetle larvae - the juvenile forms of the adult beetles that roam the beach. Although young, these beetle larvae are extremely deadly.

They live in burrows and wait for suitable prey - such as ants - to stumble too close. They then strike with frightening speed before retreating back into their burrow to consume their quarry.

Do you have any estimates on the release of the update? It doesn't have to be specific but a time frame you guys are aiming/hoping for.

"As soon as we can" really. The guys are currently dealing with a complete rewrite of the food storage and swarming algorithms that has been necessary for future levels, and it's caused a few issues with the older levels. The artwork and sound for the interim update is all done - we need to iron out the issues, check level balance and we'll be good to go.

We'll likely have a better internal idea of where we're at with it next week.

Not sure if this was asked or thought about... are there any plans for weather related obsticles and conditions in the future? Environment is a big role and the devs have done a great job on the beach level already! Just a thought...

It is indeed a thought. We'll see!
