Feedback for leafcutters update
Hey devs,
In my opinion, the new take on the ants are great, giving the game much more variety. The system with leaves, food and waste is also a very welcome change to the traditional "kill stuff and get food" system. The nest is now more dynamic, and watching the tiny workers rushing in trails around the nest is very satisfying, as is watching the leafcutter trails. The sadistic scientist is also incredible in the new formicarium challenge, and I was very suprised when he began squishing my ants.

now for some feedback.

1- From what I have seen from playing the levels so far, the leaves do not appear to regrow or regenerate, which may somewhat limit the gameplay when you eventually release them for freeplay mode.

2- Rewards for losses seem too low. Losing a very long game is not great, and especially in the harvest level, losing by a tiny amount still only gives you a miniscule amount of resources. I know you are probably trying to limit the amount of farming by losing games on purpose, but i feel like this is one aspect of the game which is not great.

3- Trap jaws are prety cool, but in real ife, they leave their jaws wide open and snap them shut, with some time before they reopen. I think the trap jaws could be changed to where they deal a huge amount of damage with one strike, leaping back, and then having a cooldown time fo 3-4 seconds. Just my opinion though.

4- Will army ants ever be playable? because it seems like they would be incredibly fun to play as, and you could use it on the same forest map as the leafcutters. I think right now, their trails consist too much of the big soldiers, as in real life, there are many many more small minors and median workers.

Yes, I very much agree with the army ants and the trap jaws. Mike did talk about off levels to get more ant species and I hope army ants will be part of that, possibly even trap jaw ants, and if they do make it with trap jaws, what you suggest would definatly make them more unique.


But yes army ants, NEED THEM! and I would like then the way they are in the formicarium challange 3, where the enemy ereptor colony had different castes of them, or just small ants in general. I'm a huge fan of polymorphism.

The devs seem like they'd like to get trapjaws and army ants in some sort of playable form if they can fit it in with the development of the primary ant species. I can certainly understand why they'd want to get the fourth and fifth formicarium species done first.

I don't know if there's plans to do the whole royal jelly tech tree thing in any modes outside of the formicarium (multiplayer maybe?) but if they do, that'd be a good place to slide in the trapjaws/armies as alternatives to the main ants without having to develop whole proper colony systems for them.
