Dinoponera being the largest can be tankiest but wont be the strongest of the 3 second most expensive ant get
Bullet ant will have high dmg not as high as bull and may not be as tanky as dino but its sting can cause a status ailment due to its toxin reaction for other insects and creatures like it hurts so much they run away but its percentage so its not OP. Third most expensive ant get
If you want really overpowered ants take a look at army ants (Eciton or Dorylus) and if you're the more conventional type (non-nomadic ants) look no further than your ordinary Camponotus (Carpenter) ants - these are really overpowered ants because not only do they have majors of up to two 2cm (the smallest workers are about 6mm, these ants come in all shapes and sizes) which are ridiculously broken against other invertebrates (3 Camponotus majors can wipe out a Lasius colony of several thousand workers) many of them also grow into the tenthousands which makes them far superior to any dinosaur ant or ponerine species (which usually don't grow beyond a few hunderd workers).
Their formic acid works like chlorin gas against other small creatures which means it burns their lungs (or whatever organ they use to breath, there are quite a few different concepts) and renders them unable to breathe - and the majors can shoot quite a hefty amount of it even disabling larger spiders.
They can also become a massive pain for housekeepers as they are able to chew through dry wood and finding their queen/s (yes, they can be olgigogynous which means they can have more than one queen but each queen recides in a different part of the colony because they can't stand each other) can prove very difficult because their interconnected (satellite) nests are often hundreds of meters apart from each other. A guy I know from an antkeeping chat had a massive Carpenter ant invasion (thousands of ants under the bathtub and all over the rooms) at his house which originated from a colony at the wood border about 800 meters away.
I'd really like to see them as an enemy - they'd be a major pain to fight, especially because many Camponotus species are most active during the night (which means they'd attack and eat all the juicy critters).
Excuse me? Dinosaur Ants are quite big mate, yes they dont have that many numbers, but they do have strength.
Dinosaur Ant Workers Can Grow Up To 1.1 centimetres. that is big for an ant
My own Camponotus barbaricus colony has majors that are almost two centimeters long and there are bull ant species that come in at a whopping four (!) centimeters.
Dinoponera females can reach 1.2-1.6 inches
HAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH, i was planning on saying that, Dinoponera are bullet ants, nothomyrmecia are dinosaur ants
