Ruin problem, bug?

Just after you get Ruin you fight a worm as a tutorial. War jumped off and on a couple of times, or Ruin disappeared depending on how you look at it, but the worm was quickly defeated.

Now I am fighting the Stygian and Ruin keeps vanishing all the time. I press c, War jumps on and Ruin is gone instantly.

I have logged out and back in, verified, used another save, nothing helped so far. I will try rebinding the keys if that is possible. Is this a known problem? Solution?

Here I am... 4 years and a day later... and this is just about the most annoying bug in any game I have ever experienced. I'm trying to fight the destroyer and because ruin keeps ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ disappearing immediately I get pile drived over and over again. I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate everything about this damn horse.

Better sooner than never, from my past experience, I had it happened like several times after being hit by the boss and Ruin starts to mess up a lot, I had to close the game and sometimes restart my computer to clean it up and then it worked... Sometimes I just had to press the key one time, then wait 3 sec before pressing it again to avoid a summon/unsommon I'd say..
