Audio issues solved?
Back in the day when it was newly realeased (the warmastered on pc I mean) the audio levels were way off. Is this issue been resolved in the mean time? I asking this before I waste time downloading it.

My main issue was mostly the weirdly mixed audio in the cutscenes. Apparently they still didn't fix ed it. Luckily there was one user who remixed all the cutscenes to normal level and made a torrent of it. It was fixed for me! That the current devs didn't at least shamelesly copied those files and made a 'patch' out of it is a but disappointing.

About your problem: do you have a stereo speaker set/headphone? And do you accidently have you audio setting in Windows/Linux set in surround? That could maybe be the problem of dissapearing sounds.

The thing is: This isn't "really" a sound issue: The Cutscenes are mixed in 5.1 sound, resulting in low sound levels on stereo equipment.

They could potentially fix it by downmixing the video files to stereo - but this would also lower the quality for those with 5.1 equipment.

btw: Instead of downloading all cutscene-files you can also downmix the files yourself:

Download FFMPEG (https://ffmpeg.zeranoe.com/builds/ for Windows builds), place the executable (in the bin folder in the downloaded archive) in the same folder as the cutscene files (usually %STEAMLIBRARYFOLDER%\steamapps\common\Darksiders Warmastered Edition\media\videos - replace %STEAMLIBRARYFOLDER% with YOUR installation folder), place a batch file there containing the following:

mkdir stereo for %%F in (Scene_*.wmv) do ffmpeg -i %%F -c:v copy -ac 2 -max_muxing_queue_size 1000 stereo\%%F
(Please note the newline after creating the directory!) and afterwards place the downsampled files in your video folder - either after you have backed up the original files or just replacing the existing files.

Oh - and while you are in the Video-Folder:
For a quicker startup skipping all the intros:
Remove kaiko_logo.wmv, main_menu_intro.wmv, start_screen_intro.wmv, THQNORDIC_LOGO_Color_white.wmv and Vigil_Logo1280x720.wmv. ;)

Well then, that's also a possibilty I guess of doing it yourself. I don't need it myself anymore but for others this is an excellent explaination!

If you're having issues with not having any sound in some parts, (particularly cutscenes) I was having the same issues at first as well. Looked through threads on Steam and google to hopefully find a solution to no avail that didn't involve this downmixing method.

After redownloading the game, messing with device audio settings and multiple restarts I decided to skim through the game options one last time to see if I missed anything, that's when I noticed there's a seperate slider for 'Video" under Audio settings. For some reason it was defaulted to mute and missed it the first time.

After un-muting it and launching a new game all the cutscenes had audio again, this may not be the issue for everyone but it could help you out since it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it.
I just installed and play a little. Audio balance for cutscenes are totally off. It seems that they mixed them with voice over, and voice is at normal level, but background with music and sfx is lowered.
