I play with resolution 1920x1080, anisotropic x16, textures very high and I get an average of 30-40fps with no stuttery during gameplay.
As soon as a cutscene starts, the fps drop to 10-15, after 4-5 seconds it goes to ~20fps and stays at 20fps until the audio is over (usually several seconds before the video finishes). When the audio is over, the fps goes to ~60fps and the video seems to play fine from that point on till the end.
I played the .wmv files in my media player (MPC-BE x64) and all files play perfectly, extremely smooth but the audio from the dialogue is missing, so I'm assuming it has something to do with the audio+video, since the videos ingame start playing fine when the audio from the dialogue(s) finishes.
Initially I also had the problem with no cutscenes being played, but that was easily fixed by unchecking the "Disable Media Foundation" option from the codecs I use (Shark007 ADVANCED Codecs).
MY SOULTION!
Hello, I also noticed the same problem, the background audio in the cinematics was lost and the video started to go very slow. Really unbearable.
Search many solutions (change codecs, uninstall codecs, fidget with records, change audio format, pray to Rosa de Guadalupe, etc ...)
Finally I came up with a solution, I realized that the resolution of all the videos was 1920x812, so I decided to lower the resolution of the video to 1280x720 and it worked, the video of the cinematics is no longer delayed and the audio is heard in perfect synchronization with the voices.
Of course, there is no substitute for the original videos with the converted videos.
I know there are many programs that offer to change the resolution of the videos, but most leave a watermark until you buy the full version.
You can use the video converter that you like, but the one I use does not leave any watermark and does it very well. You can locate it with your search engine with the name:
Any video converter (AVC).
It's free, and as I said, it does not leave watermarks in the video conversion.
I hope it serves, any questions you may ask. Greetings from Peru.
Hey from 2023 :D I'm currently playing through the Darksiders series and I've also run into a problem with the cutscenes: the game itself runs smoothly, but the cutscenes are unwatchable. I tried changing the settings, but that didn't help.
Then I saw your comment about converting the videos to 1280x720. I did that, and it worked! So thanks a lot for your comment and solution! It was a lifesaver!
