I know but would buy it early access even on steam
Then why not buy it on Epic? You would even give Supergiant more money that way, as the fee is substantially lower. It's better for the company we all love so much if you buy it there.
Steam gave a lot of opportunities for everyone to make money out of nothing, either from the Summer/Winter cards given for free, special events from games with microtransactions on the steam market, trading, tons of free games given away for free that had trading cards, and the sorts. The steam wallet money that many people already have, can't be spent on other venues that aren't steam, such as the Epic Games store.
The other is that many people, especially the ones making threads on the steam discussions page, have most of their games on steam, and would rather keep it like that. Now that Epic Games has a store, that is now another platform that people had to make another account and be invested into it. I once again doubt people who many already have an Origin, Uplay, Steam, GOG accounts, would bother to make yet another one on another different platform, just to buy a single game exclusive to it, even if we're talking about Supergiant Games.
I tend to not play any games that are on other clients cause I don't want to run so many launchers on startup and then I forget about them.
Even if I got this for free on another client I'd not play it (more then right after installing it...then I'd forget and ignore)
I will most likely get it at release when it's on Steam though =)
I understand but I got into their games on steam and got both bastion and transistor, not pyre because it looks more like sports. But i am excited for hades because it looks amazing. I would support them on epic if more games were there as well but the store itself doesnt have much features and most of my games are on steam so i dont want to want another laucher. I just wish they would release it on steam as well so i can buy it. I understand that valve their system is not in their favour but if either early access or release comes to steam would be much appreciated.
Again...it's coming to Steam, Early Access is on Epic Games launcher.
So you prefer a monopoly then? How can we expect any improvements if we do not support variety and competition?
By the way, Hades is DRM-free. So it can be run without the launcher. This whole thing is only about what store you buy. Not what launcher you use. So you can choose to start the exe directly without any launcher. And you can even create a link in Steam and start it up that way. This is basically like GOG. So please explain to me, what exactly is the problem with that?
Is Hades the only drm-free game which will be locked from buying on other platforms?
I don't think you understand what a free market is. I don't like exclusivity either. But you seem picky about which is ok and which is not. One example: you have GTA V. Rockstar doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥ about PC gamers. They release their games console exclusive. They dont even announce the PC versions. They ♥♥♥♥ out a port 1-2 years later after the exclusivity period. Yet you don't seem to have a problem with buying their games. Isn't that kind of hypocritical? Hades is only exclusive for the EA period. The finished game will be on Steam. It is DRM-free, which makes the original argument of not wanting so many launchers invalid. Yet you guys still have a problem with it. Like a big problem. The biggest! Rockstar gets away with their behavior. You give them your money, no problem. This Hades thing seems way less bad to me, yet you obviously find it way worse. Why is that, I wonder.
It's not because there is a chinese company involved, is it? China - The Enemy!™ ;)
No idea. Again, the game will be available on Steam. Just not the Early Access version.
And Hades get released in another laucher, when it's INACCESSIBLE in Steam.
So I don't see any reasons for childish joy here "He hey! PC market will win because of this and it will be better for all PC gamers!".
No, PC gamers will lose cause of reasons:
1. PC market will be divided much more like Europe in Middle Ages with thousands of principalities, kingdoms and counties.
2. Regional prices in Epic crap will be higher for almost all countries except those with euro and us dollar.
And what is the problem with that? So you buy the game somewhere else, but still have your direct link to the devs on the Steam forum. Sounds perfect to me.
You mean like Steam did in the beginning? Ok, so we gave Steam a chance, and from that point on we never give any other platform a chance again.
By the way, who cares about the launcher? We are talking about a DRM-free game here. Forget about the launcher. You don't need it to run the game. Do you also not buy games on Humble Bundle, on GMG or Gamersgate, or any other store - just because they don't have forums, community screenshots and trading cards?
Sorry, but if you give me this "no steam, no buy" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ - then yes, you do support their monopoly.
I read it on a forum, so I basically also take someone's word for it. ;)
You know, there was a time when gaming was about the games. We went to the store and bought a game. It didn't have a launcher, and therefore it also didnt have any community features. We bought the game because we wanted to play the game. And that was alright. It seems nowadays it doesn't matter how good a game is. If it doesn't come with community features, it's not worth playing. Oh well...
