Do you participate in total of 6 Liberations, or it stops only after you liberate 6 Nightwings?

There are a finite number of Liberation Rites as part of the story; how many or how few of your fellow exiles you liberate depends on what happens in each of those instances...! It's possible to complete the game having liberated none of your companions.

I won every single match and lost one on purpose to get the harpy out, it was 6 liberations for me

So, I'll bump it for the subj related question - how many exactly Rites you can conduct?
I've heard there are 7 and the 7th is final after which the game is ended. Is it true?

There are six of them, you will conduct all of them even if you lose all the Rites, because Nightwings historically are chosen as a merit for other triumvirates.
