I didn't see mobs, towers or anything to buy, but you are able to control each of your three characters. All of them have a different moveset, iirc.
There are gameplay videos on youtube, for example by IGN or TotalBiscuit. You could skip through them, until you see the 3vs3 part. :)
Single player contradicts multiplayer. It just sounds weird.
That's a good question and concise way of asking. The answer is, because out of all the many possible game ideas we considered, we were the most excited about pursuing this one.
We know it's not going to be for everyone (none of our games are), but we felt exactly the same way as we were making Bastion and Transistor. If we keep making games that are overly familiar to us, they will be overly familiar to you, and the surprise you felt when you first experienced our games won't be there. I think that element of surprise is incredibly important to what makes for a memorable and interesting game.
I've found most of the players I've interacted with who didn't enjoy Transistor generaly aren't excited to try new mechanics and game systems, but just want to play the same familiar game over and over again, perhaps with minor improvements. I.e. they wanted to play Bastion again, and didn't like Transistor because it wasn't Bastion 2.
Hey, don't knock it until you try it. I was a bit iffy on the sportsball aspect of the rites myself when I first saw it, but I trust SGG enough to give them a chance to impress me. They're two for two thus far, after all.
Sir Snarplord, Local Abathur, I found Transistor battle system was a very cool unique addition to typical isometric RPG. Can't say anything about others.
Bomoo, Bastion was boring for me who plays games not just to listen the narration. What's wrong with me? Inb4 Transistor OST is the only OST I've bought because it perfectly suits the game, but if there was no game in Transistor I haven't be intrested in any soundtracks.
