Stuck early on in the game

Hello,

On the night before the wedding, I can't defeat the goblin right outside the house.
I'm finding that I can't weaken the goblin fast enough, even with healing often I can't build up enough AP to not die.

I can build up enough AP to use James's Cleave, but it always misses.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi Michael,

The Cleave ability is a finishing move. So what you need to do is weaken the Goblin until a Skull icon appears over its head, and then use Cleave to finish it off and end the battle.

I just played through the battle myself. Obviously the enemy commands are randomised, but here's what I did to win:

Turn 1 - Strong Attack

Turn 2 - Strong Attack

Turn 3 - Strong Attack

Turn 4 - Heal

Turn 5 - Weak Attack

Turn 6 - Weak Attack

Turn 7 - Defend (I was 1 AP off from using Cleave)

Turn 8 - Cleave

The Goblin has 24 HP in total, after which the Skull icon appears. Sometimes knowing the HP amount can help you make decisions in tough moments.
