"Yes, that should work."
As everyone knows, that's what you get on screen after successfully clearing a section. With the whole 80s VCR aesthetic happening (the chapter select menu, the pause menu, the rewind mechanic, the post-section black and white replay) did anyone get a weird feeling that it would head into snuff film territory, especially when Zero shows up at Studio 51? The "Yes, that should work / No… That won't work" is supposed to be Zero analyzing his run, but it also kind of sounds like a director making cuts and edits to a video. Also at the beginning, V mentions something about how Zero's killed more people in a day then V has his entire life, and tossing all the replays together would be a pretty significant snuff film.

For a good portion of the game I thought one of the plot points would be about how someone (like V) would be putting all the security cam footage together as a disturbing snuff film that Zero was unwittingly made to play the main character in; I feel like it would tie right into the noirish aesthetic and themes (being used / out of control, violence for the sake of violence, etc).

I think if you didn't beat V down and tell him he's subhuman he would almost definitely have done that. I really like this idea.

The "Yes, that should work / No… That won't work" isn't Zero analyzing his run after the fact, it is Zero using his precognition to find a strategy to clear the room

No, they are not at all the same thing. One fits into the narrative of the story, the other does not. It is Zero predicting the actions ahead of time, and then executing the plan. This is why it makes sense when it gets interrupted by V and others, it was an event Zero either couldn't or failed to predict.

Please, tell us more about how we should interpret the themes and actions of an unreliable narrator based around a drug that doesn't have clearly defined side effects to fit only your interpretations.

Well, since you ask. It doesn't actually matter which interpretation is correct. While yours is clearly wrong and not supported by the lore supplied by the game, I was mainly calling out your disingenuous reply trying to equate them as the same. They are mutually exclusive interpretations, and them being precognition is listed multiple times in the game, through multiple sources.

*spoilers, of course*
I guess he doesn't say it outright, but I'm pretty sure he was doing exactly that. He talks about being a huge fan, and mentions hoping they got the scientist exploding on camera. You know he was watching all of that surveillance footage. That's probably why he filmed himself killing the neighbors. Like a fan film delivered to his favorite director.
