Open Ubisoft Connect
Click play in Steam (and also Ubisoft Connect)
Name goes green implying game is running, then goes blue again and nothing else happens.
Used to play it with friends, now it wont start, is there a way to fix this?
Just to be clear, we recommend clicking only the play button from Steam, as this should automatically do what it needs to do in Connect in the background. Connect shouldn't be clicked at all during that time.
Most issues with launching are resolved using the steps in the troubleshooting guide[ubi.li] - in this case it sounds like Steam is having trouble communicating with the programs it needs, so that sounds like an access issue. In particular from the guide, please make sure you are running the game with administrator rights, you've verified the game files, you've got your graphics drivers and Windows install fully updated, and you've (at least temporarily, for testing) deactivated all background programs.
Let me know if the issue persists after those steps, and I'll explain some further troubleshooting we can try.
- Ubisoft Support
Heya again Snow Wolf :) I've just spotted your other thread, so I've merged it in with this one.
I understand you've already followed our troubleshooting, so my next recommended step is to follow our system files support article[ubi.li]. The two files it describes can be used by our support specialists to check some system details, and check for any errors Windows itself has logged, which often allows us to give more specific and targeted troubleshooting recommendations. We can't do that here on the forum, though, so once you've got those two files prepared, please reach out to our support specialists directly at the links below.
Open a support ticket with Ubisoft Support[ubi.li]
Send Ubisoft Support a private message on Facebook[ubi.li]
Send Ubisoft Support a direct message on Twitter[ubi.li]
Let me know if I can clarify any of that!
What is the average waiting time from Twitter and a Ticket. Because last time I tried to get help from the Twitter team last year, I didn't get a message for over 2 months.
So just wondering if the Ticket is faster or slower than that?
Found in the comments section of a video of how to fix it: "For me it was fixed by going into settings - apps and there just modify - repair ALL of your Visual C++ versions(I have 8 different ones: visual c++ 2010 - 2021 x64/x86)."
Next, this triggered the Easy Anti Cheat flagging it as an "Untrusted System File" - Fixed that by going to the "Steam\steamapps\common\Wildlands\EasyAntiCheat" Folder, Right click on "EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe" -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Tick the "Run this program as an administrator" ON.
Hope this helps since I haven't found this answer anywhere on Steam or the Ubi forums.
omg Thank you so much, this worked for me. This thing needs to be pinned and Ubisoft needs one of the forums they have to fix the game to list this. I only had fixed the early versions never fixed the old ones. Thanks man :).
You have to setup a Ubisoft account and then link them for it to work. It's been awhile so I'm not sure how to do it now.
[EDIT]: It was already explained hahaha, my bad
Hey! I troubleshooted this problem with a friend. For him it looked like the MSVCR110.dll system file was missing. It's from the Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable. Just go there http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=30679# , download the 'Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable' installer, install it and reboot. It worked for him.
How we found this: We tried to start the game from the game folder as Admin and we got the actual error message that the system is missing the MSVCR110 DLL. Once installed and rebooted it worked instantly :)
Attempting to launch the game through Steam makes it appear as if launching, but then pretends nothing happened a few seconds later.
Ubisoft Connect is installed and logged into, and my Steam account is linked on my Ubisoft account, but I don't see the game in my Ubisoft Connect games library. Ofc I don't know if it's supposed to be there at all, but just fyi.
I tried looking at the troubleshooting tips, and everything should be fine there.
I tried downloading the linked Visual C++ redistributable and repairing it and any other Visual C++ redistributable that I had installed. There were some that I couldn't repair though (2010 versions and under). I did find the MSVCR110.dll file in System32, if that's the one you guys are talking about.
I tried making EasyAntiCheat run as administrator both for the exe file in the wildlands directory, but also in its own directory in Program Files (x86).
I've subsequently rebooted a few times, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. The Windows Event Viewer also isn't being helpful. No errors. It only lets me know that EasyAntiCheat is loading and then unloading a few seconds later when I run rungame.exe as administrator from the wildlands folder. Running GRW.exe as admin or running the game via Steam doesn't tell me anything.
[EDIT]: I found a fix for my issue here: reddit.com/r/GhostRecon/comments/85cbjn/ghost_recon_wildlands_wont_launch_on_steam/
Deleting Ubisoft Connect's cache folder by following the instructions in the link did the trick:
1) Exit Uplay
2) Delete folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache
3) Start Uplay
4) Play the game
