ubisoft connect keeps crashing.. no errors in event log. can't launch
prem9100 8 ABR a las 4:53 p. m.
Finally, after 1 month, I am able to launch GRW with the help of chatgpt

The solution that worked for me was to run GRW.exe and UbisoftConnect.exe as Administrator. Reason chatgpt said was because the game didn’t have permission to launch properly, or Ubisoft Connect wasn’t allowed to hook into Steam correctly without elevated access.

Here were the steps:
• Navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wildlands\
• Right-click on GRW.exe > Properties
• Under Compatibility, check Run this program as administrator
• Do the same for the Ubisoft Connect launcher: C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\UbisoftConnect.exe
• Launch Steam

All the best!

UbiConnect doesn't crash for me, just the game, but setting both to admin, will see if it helps.

I've no idea why a person above you bumped this old thread, because the thread was/is about a very specific issue, when Ubisoft Connect launcher was updated and definitely broke the game, so people downgraded the launcher. The issue was fixed a long time ago.

The recent Steam update yesterday wasn't about the game itself, Ubisoft (they do it very often) just updated UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe - launcher installer - they distribute along the game. It's located in \steamapps\common\Wildlands\ folder.

Lots of other Ubisoft games on Steam were updated the same way recently.

Not correct
this was downloading in Steam specificly for Ghost Recon Wildlands.
If it was Ubisoft Connect Launcher update
there would also have been an update for my Assassins Creed Valhalla that i also had installed which there wasnt.

Of course it's 100% correct. Splinter Cell Blacklist, Assassin's Creed Black Flag, Crew 2 and Ghost Recon Wildlands were updated for me.

Also here's the proof. No patches[steamdb.info] for Wildlands on Steam db since 19 September 2023. But Last Record Update was 14 April 2025 – 08:32:03 UTC (2 days ago), Because Ubisoft Connect was updated[steamdb.info] at that time 2 days ago. And UbisoftConnectInstaller.exe in Wildlands folder now has 14/04/25 date. And here's the list[steamdb.info] of all affected games.

Ok but like i said Assassins Creed Valhalla which also is a Ubisoft game did not update for me on steam.
Good that it works for some now.
I personally did not have a problem with Wildlands.

That's why I've said lots of other Ubisoft games on Steam were updated, not all of them.

It typically takes a little bit for the game to start working again, maybe wait a day or so

Does anyone have a fix to this yet? When I press play it says it is running for a few seconds and then quits automatically. Also happens for Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Blacklist but says it is running? Is Ubisoft really going to get away with this? Its been down for months now?

There is no need for that, the issue discussed in this thread was fixed a long time ago.

Getaway with what? Both games work fine right now. Except Blacklist is asking login and password each time you launch it, cause it uses an older user identification method.

You have a different issue.

It's wild that Ubisoft put in a lot of time and money to add an extra stage of bugs and problems to an otherwise functional game, for no gain whatsoever.
Shows why executives really are just a drain on businesses.

The gain is the game has coop/multiplayer that works both on PC and consoles, so they can sell the game on consoles and on PC outside of Steam. These are huge gains for them.
