Sod off.
If I alt-tab, the game freezes when I try to tab back in. Does not recover.
I don't install random software and I'm pretty sure stuff like NVidia drivers don't do this.
Plus, you know, brand new PC.
I've tried all the usual stuff like running as admin but nothing works.
That's why I asked if someone else had found a fix.
I've tried the game without Discord running and it doesn't work any better.
I don't use Shadowplay or filters.
Chances of the same software issue being on two different PCs years apart is pretty low.
I have no issues like this with literally any other game, just Wildlands and Breakpoint which are both jank to begin with.
"I allow NO crap"
So you don't talk with friends?
You don't edit photographs?
You don't edit audio?
You don't use EPIC, Steam, Origin, UConnect?
You only use Windows Media Player for audio and video?
You don't update drivers?
You don't ever download anything?
Or do you mean "crap" as in garbage from unreliable sites? I don't do that.
I just accept things that I know to be reliable and trustworthy.
If a game dev doesn't know how to make a game work properly with basic ♥♥♥♥♥ NVidia drivers or Discord, they shouldn't be a game dev at all.
I don't use the ubisoft overlay at all, I also don't have anything OC'd.
Going to give that holding alt thing when we play next, hadn't heard of that one!
Maybe it works better with clicking in stead of just alt+tab..
THese things are caused by issues that Drivers do create. I had BSOD back in the days of 580x Radeon because Widnows did push 2006 drivers in my pc for GPU!!!!!!
"I don't allow stuff"... it's a long way to learn how to control windows, trust me. It's a mess of things to learn. Nobody young as 15 years old or so is capable to have ahd the time unless only sitting all day long on pc to learn all the things pc management requires.
My game changes settings, my game doesn't show HUD with Helicopter... there are some issues.
Just go for a reinstall if you ahve good internet speed.. if it's not an issue for you
Check your mobo, and yes some softwares create issues. Yes discord is not that great it's a strange software and anyway these are all parts of USA apparati, they are used to spy on ppl so it's normal they are heavy.
Everything is up to date.
Memory sticks are fine, I did memory tests when I got the new PC. Had faulty RAM from the start years ago and ever since that I've been super paranoid about RAM issues. Though, RAM wouldn't explain a consistent 100% repeatable error in the same games on two different PCs with different memory sticks.
Paging space is set to max 16gb right now, should be plenty.
"Nobody young as 15 years old or so" my buddy my bro I'm 36, I've had more time on a PC than many people on here have been alive.
Oh and I've got 100/100 so download size is 100% irrelevant. I've done file integrity checks and I've re-installed it more than once.. and I did the same things back on my old PC.
It's not caused by Discord since my buddies who were on the same channel as me both had no issues. Something else, but absolutely no idea what.
The issue has been there for YEARS. If it was something as obvious as drivers... those drivers have changed hundreds of times since the first time I had this issue. Hell, the only things in my new PC that are even similar would be:
1) NVidia GPU (generations apart, hundreds of driver updates between), from different manufacturers
2) Windows (Different Windows tho)
Game runs like a dream, just janky sometimes.. and alt-tabbing breaks it completely.
As you stated this is a problem your friends don't have, so it isn't exactly reason to blame the game entirely and since you had this same issue with two different PCs it tells us that you probably did something that caused this issue twice.
Sometimes having Discord on for me, blocks my game from even starting, even if its own overlay is disabled, I bet that it doesn't happen to many people and it doesn't solve anything to assume something just because it didn't cause issues for others.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/460930/discussions/1/3004430047205787747/?ctp=2#c4041481833166504095 Discord caused similar problem as you're having.
You don't need to use Ubi overlay, it's on by default, it doesn't matter if you don't use it same way as like Steam overlay, if it's enabled it can cause issues. Many GPUs are factory OC'd, you don't need to OC them manually and they can still cause problems.
I'm still leaning that some overlay or program is messing it up.
Disable every program that isn't needed to run the game, that ALSO includes additional programs from manufacturers for mouse, keyboard, audio, etc, for example, Razer Synapse. Start the game, then try alt tab and see if it's fixed and if it's fixed, then shutdown the game and enable 1-2 programs at the time and repeat process. Wouldn't be the first time when some program for peripherals break something.
And like I said a few times before: I HAVE TRIED IT WITHOUT DISCORD ON
Didn't work.
I've tried having everything non-windows related that isn't mandatory off too. Didn't work.
Why do you insist on blaming me in stead of accepting that yes, at some point the developers overlooked something and it is now causing issues?
I've tried the gameS without ANY extra software running in the background. Just Windows and Ubisoft's ♥♥♥♥♥♥ client that is required to launch the game.
Did not work any better.
I have friends with the same NVidia card and same version of drivers without this issue.
One of them even has the same CPU and mobo as me.
They use the same software I use. They use Steam, Discord etc.
So why do you keep assuming it's something I did when I, in fact, did ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nothing to cause it?
It's unbelievable how many people will just think game developers are some omniscient entity that can not make mistakes.
