The FAL is pretty effective at distance if you set it to semi (single fire). On fully auto you’ll be all over the place. When I set up for “British Army” mission I carry that and the SA80 (L85A2) with suppressor and use it on 3 round burst fire for more CQC.
With the FAL you really need to find the sweet-spot when adding parts. Keep an eye on the “handling” scale and try to get that as high as possible without losing accuracy and distance etc. It’s fun to try the different missions using different weapons so good luck mate!
I play on the hardest difficulty (forgot the name) and the FAL is very accurate and effective at longer distances. For close-range/CQB/CQC I use pistols, SMGs, or a different type of gun. I usually fire in semi-auto for bursts. Full-auto at long distances is non-existent for me. Actually the only time I use full-auto is when I need to suppress the enemy and provide cover fire; but even then I mostly use semi-auto.
Also the British variant of the FAL was called the L1A1 and SLR.
