I can't really compare it to the Mk16 though as I haven't used that one much. I got the impression that Mk16 is more accurate and has greater range but less recoil control than MK18, like BlueLightning says.
MK16, 22 shots to destroy armor, 31 for MK18. They fill different roles for me but are equally valuable.
If you checkout the video Darkdally just did on the Mk18 thou, I'm sure you will throw your money at it
Being able to CQB and run & gun, scope enemies out to 200-350m and drop them even while detected with just 1-3 bullets, good recoil/handling even with the M203 attached.
So you end up looking at the AR's and finding that one that fits you as a BR & DMR so you can get the job done in all situations.

DLC which for the moment outclass all the others, just use the long barrel for the 416

MK18

Thanks! Starting my ghost mode run now and the MK18's been very good so far!
Just remember that bullet drop and bullet grouping will get you everytime... same goes for certain scopes, they might look cool but some of the AR's just handle like drek with them.
I use the ACOG always now and have got used to it even in CQB, it would be a lot better if it had the ACSS reticle.

edit: if you did use the Mk16 did you notice the bad bullet drop it had?
I've noticed a bunch of the hybrid scopes feel off, is that just me or a community standard at this point.
I think it is a side effect of the game engine rendering and how they did the short ranges for snipers and handled the bullet drop.
It’s just weird they decided not to use modern optics like any of the Vortex brand optics or even optics used by the US military and just how bad the recticle's are on the scopes we have.
You can also go look at the specs for say the M4 Carbine and see...
M4 Carbine
Maximum Effective Range (Point Target) 500 meters
Maximum Effective Range (Area Targets) 600 meters
Maximum Range 3600 meters
We see the sniper rifles in GRW struggle with 400-600m shots and have you aim way above the target because of the bad bullet drop GRW uses.
So you see that the sniper rifles in GRW are using assault rifle distances and that the AR'S struggle with anything over 300m
If you know where to go and look and read, you would know that enlisted guys are getting 500m+ headshots with their AR's and you can't do that in GRW
You can't get 300-400m shots off with iron sights on any rifle in GRW
I'm thinking about getting ARMA 3 more just because of how well it did with the guns and scopes and how good it feels shooting and not having the bullets do like nerf darts.
No need to aim 2m over a target at 200m.
It’s pretty common to engage enemies at 300 - 400 meters. I recently fired at OPFOR that’s been 600 - 700 meters away using LMG. You can set your sights’ or scope’s zeroing manually and with ACE mod it’s taken even further - with adjusting windage and distance separately (only for long range scopes of course). Wind speed and direction, air humidity, air pressure and air temperature can alter bullet’s path. Sometimes you even have to take Coriolis effect under account.
I've watched some Twitch streamers playing it and YT videos on it, and it does look good.

Thanks for all the input dude! Yeah, I'll look into playing ARMA 3, but I don't have too many friends who're interested in the realistic, or even semi realistic, space, and my region in specific isn't very active on ARMA sadly.
