I figured out a way to join and play with friends.

Be patient. It takes like 3-5 minutes to setup. Doesn't need port forwarding. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU NEED TO ADD YOUR BUDDIES THROUGH UBISOFT. Make sure your UBISOFT account has the ONLINE status. Not away.

1. Launch the game through UBISOFT launcher, not steam.

2. Go to continue campaign and wait til it says online. If NAT is online that is good. If its offline above launch you will have to quit your game and RE LAUNCH through UBISOFT. (EVERYONE WILL NEED TO DO THIS, NOT JUST THE PARTY LEADER).

3. If you're trying to be the party leader then it will say OPEN TO FRIENDS above the LAUNCH button, once it works at least. Keep in mind you might have to restart your game and re launch it through UBISOFT. ITS A PAIN SOMETIMES. Usually takes me two tries.

4. If you are trying to join the PARTY HOST then here are your additional steps.

5. After doing Step 1 and 2. Also make sure your game isn't running. Then open up the UBISOFT launcher.

6. Once the party host is in his party meaning the "OPEN TO FRIENDS" is above the LAUNCH button. Go ahead and click on "Join game". Should be in the friends tab on UBISOFT.

7. Game loads up straight into your buddy's party. WALLLLLAAAAAA

8. If it fails "cannot connect". Then go back to the main menu of the game. Press SHIFT + F2. Have your buddy send you an invite, then click accept. Should work.

10. ONE LAST THING. CLOSE UBISOFT COMPLETLY. MEANING QUIT THE LAUNCHER. Re open ubisoft and then play the game. A buddy of mine kept trying and trying and finally got it to work.

9. If all fails. I don't know what else to tell ya. Its working for me. I have screenshots on my account RN if you wanna see the proof.

Close ubisoft completly. Then try again.

Just switch back to trying to connect to the store a few times to starting the game online (Squad Privacy) and it usually connects withing 15-30min if the servers are responding, but I have seen it take hours to finally go online in the past two months. (unless Ubisoft fixes this, it's a major problem and the servers have been drek for online co-op play during this whole time)
