I really would like to take your side here but honestly, it was you not using google before you click something and then complain for your own lack of quite common gaming knowledge.
Like, its nothing new, this system exists now for nearly 10 years.
I don't play Call of Duty yet still have heard of/understand what prestige is...
Getting all twisted and projecting outwards with that "children on duty" bs only makes you look childish yourself honestly.
If you don't want said cosmetic then there's no reason for you to prestige, it's pretty much that simple. A lot of people justify re-earning unlockables for the sake of a reward or just starting from scratch. The only game I can think of that has this system but does it differently is For Honor and that's because almost everything in that game that's unlockable is cosmetic and the things that aren't (that being feats and gears, gears only changing stats in specific modes) just cosmetic players can put real money into, so they can't really reset the feats and gear every prestige thus it just resets your level.
So sorry that you prestiged before looking at what it even was but that's on you.
This Prestige system or whatever you wanna call it and sounds normal to you maybe is good for games like COD but not for a game where the outcome of the battle is heavily decided on the class you pick and perks you bring with yourself. This is as dumb as if CSGO gets DLC system which allows you to buy your guns only and only through DLCs (i.e AWP DLC)... or if CSGO had level unlocking system for the guns and then you reset everything back to zero once you reach Global Elite.
and you call youself a gamer
It's a shame the internet doesn't exist, having a nearly unlimited source of free information at our fingertips via the same exact platform we play these video games on would be way too much power for one man to possess.
So it gives you more than just a camo, you get a class from it that I'd assume you also don't require to play this mode well. If there's literally no way for you to do well with the starter class or classes then this PvP mode has more problems than just prestige.
And CS:GO is an entirely different game built in a way that prestige mode would be impossible without severely changing how the game is played. This does not, it just means you have to change your playstyle until you unlock the class or classes you played the most.
So again, that's on you for either not paying attention to what this game told you prestige mode did or not trying to figure out what it did if the game didn't tell you. Nor is prestiging, again, required at all.
I mean, if you only play to unlock stuff then you shouldnt play games anyway, as that would mean you feel no enjoyment with playing except you are rewarded by a non-sensical and irrelevant goodie.
That only leaves two sides here. Either you have fun and the "problem" you have here is no problem so playing more will happen anyway, or you shouldnt play a game that clearly isnt fun for you and you should 1.avoid games with unlock systems in the future and 2. reflect whether you even like to play videogames at all and if so which games that are, as you seem to then only be motivated by extrinsical factors which is contradicting this hobby.
I see it this way, next time you wont buy a game that needs you to grind through an unlock system when the basic game principle isnt fun.
If you only play to progress through a meaningless system then why play at all.
