That said, I can get past the aforementioned point (with the help of friends), but I have been playing for three years too. Not only that, but I don't play with 'enemy detection clouds' turned on - it is imperative that you spot all enemies before entering each area. And there are several things you can normally do in the campaign, that I would not recommend you do in Ghost mode, because of the risk, or at least wait until you have taken most of the perks, AND ALL YOUR human TEAMMATES get the MEDIC DRONE and full drone range - AND EQUIP the MEDIC DRONE only. You, and your team, need to prioritize getting the medic drone.
#2 recommendation: use the crossbow 99% of the time!
Perhaps the problem is that you are trying to concentrate on doing the story missions before you get most of the perks. Your chances of dying reduce exponentially when you have all the perks AND BONUS MEDALS (exc. some mostly useless ones). My recommendation is that you avoid the story missions, especially the ones that attack significant enemy compounds, until you have filled most of the perks ('Skills'). Another recommendation: DON'T ACTIVATE TIER MODE UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED THE STORY MISSIONS!
Use stealth, and 'hit and run' tactics, when they detect you quickly run around the area to a different side, DON"T try to pick more off, you will only escalate them and cause more reinforcements to come in. As soon as they are alerted, cool it and wait for them to de-escalate before continuing your attack or infiltration. This means you need friends that also do the same thing - loose cannons are unacceptable and will get you killed.
Supply Convoys: destroy these only with small chaingun helicopters, there are plenty of places across the map where you can steal them. Or you can use the "Santa Blanca Helicopter" - the forward missiles and side chaingun large helicopter, just shoot the escorts with the missiles (lock-on, 230-299m distance) and then fly so your friend can shoot the target truck with the gattling gun to 1-49% health level. With the smaller heli, do the same technique, shoot the escorts first then the target truck, staying far enough away that you don't take damage too fast. Watch the road ahead, be aware of upcoming enemy hotspots and don't disable/stop the target in a bad spot - and if you do just abandon it. IF you watch closely for nearby threats - such as SAMS, compounds, Unidad, or nearby enemy helicopters - you can do the supply missions extremely quickly without a great risk to your life. Avoid the SAM areas - avoid Media Luna, the combat outpost are in Southeast Koani, the outpost in southern San Mateo, central Pucara, northern Montuyuc and the "training base" area in the east, and the entire Flor De Oro.
Vehicle Drop-off missions, use the exploit: spot all the enemies inside (rebel spotting ability), then SHOOT them all through the walls (you cannot shoot through ceilings/floors/roofs) using guns with great penetration - MG 121, HTI, and heli chainguns - being careful not to cause an explosion near a door. You will need to move around to find angles where you can kill each one, including elevation. Watch for enemy reinforcements coming in, in many places that won't even happen. Then after they are ALL dead, just blow a door and run in and do the mission.
That said, most Players cheated their way to get that stupid Exo-Gear and a ton of Crates. Without those free Crates, most players would not even bother
Halloween made some good points already. Imho, ..
- with smart Coop team you´re unkillable.. (Healing Drone ftw)
- Suppressor is a must..
- FallenGhosts helps a lot with a nice Xbow
- don´t get cornered with UNIDAD.. run once it escalates or they hunt you down.. promise
- note: You can´t die during a mission.. never. The only problem arises, if the mission fails and you´re still in a fight.. worst case you´re down and wait for revive... IF your team dies NOW, that´s it.. next try. Same for Anti-Air-missiles hitting your Helicopter.. 50:50 chance to get your team killed
Tips depends how you play, I had enemy markers, objective markers, detection clouds and minimap off, except on first try I had minimap on. So far easiest save was the one where I got maxed Rebels skills quite early and used them a lot.
It helps a lot if you have completed each mission at least once, because there's basically 0 randomization to enemy spawns and their routes at mission areas.
Take it slow, scout most enemy positions, remember their routes.
Takeout snipers and power generators.
Use Medic drone to revive teammates, when you get detected, call rebels, take distance and use sync shot + rebels to take out remaining enemies or leave area.
Do not try to stay engaged with Unidad, you will die.
Learn this map https://i.redd.it/go5b3nkqtit01.jpg and you can use helicopters and airplanes safely.
When you are near few enemies, it helps a lot if you use pistol or melee to takeout enemies, because of detection range.
Rebel mortar and vehicle missions are a lot easier if you call rebels to help.
Prioritize what you need first, there's not necessarily need to do mission x at area y, you can come back later to finish it.

frankly i love how it changes the gameplay. so much more present and cautious. if i start getting tired, just have to take a break. sometimes spend a lot of time doing recon. much more satisfying than the regular game frankly.
really easy to imagine implementing other game features into this one. splinter cell/asssassins creed wall climbing, non-lethal weapons, and witcher/cyberpunk hookers.
It´s somewhat OP under the right circumstances.. Why?
- basically silent Kills from 5-200m.
- like a SniperRifle, just lacks some long range
- requires NO RELOAD
-> BIG DOWNSIDE: no Penetration, which makes it also extremely unrealistic
Note: exploding bolts and special abilities only work in FallenGhosts
True.. I covered that in Quick-Start guide. Same here.. must be my SplinterCell habit
If interested in Silent Operators Armory, check my recent guide:

At Tier11 normal kill is just 14-24XP.. against strong enemies like HeavyGunner 70 /Sniper 88
-> but a stealthy Sniper-kill gets you "undetected" + "Headshot" and results in 264XP
The 556 is quite average.. especially with a basic Sight. AUG is ok, but TAR-21 and MDR are superior. Also, once enemies get harder and better armored (especially UNIDAD), they don´t die easily from Grenades and 2-3 Shots can kill you. That´s why direct assault without Rebel troops becomes highly suicidal
But ShortBarrel is hampering you especially in GhostMode, where you only have one Weapon-slot + Handgun. That means your weapon must be a good Allrounder because you can´t swap to SniperRifle or equip additional SMG.
556xi is not bad, but it´s more on par with Aug A3 or Bren A2.. better penetration, while lacking in other departments.
The ACR is just a slightly weaker TAR-21.. really good choice
(Btw, thanks for pointing out.. ACR now added to Guide)
I have 6 assault rifles each with 2-7k kills, and all I can say, stats do not matter that much, especially since in many cases they're wrong and doesn't represent actual in-game performance, some players have done testing about them and shared their findings. Mk 18 for example doesn't have like 2x more dmg like it looks from stats bar, some range stats are way lower for weapons etc.
IMO better way to look them is how each attachment performs and what does it add, positive or negative to your prefered playstyle and just disregard stats.
For example long barrel=longer range, more recoil, higher dmg (although not always -1 bullet need to kill vs normal barrel). Short barrel is exact opposite, vertical grips=faster aim down the sight speed and more horizontal recoil, short/folder stock does the same. There's more different type behavior to them, but CBA to type wall of text about them.
